Thank you Roger, my wife is English and I did a double take on "Happy Christmas" the very first time that I heard it over there.. and then foolishly asked:
"and a Merry New Year?"

They said "no, we don't say that...."

Then there was a silence, and I said... "oh, ok, so It's Happy Christmas AND a Happy New year?"

Then they just told me to piss off....

So good for you on the Merry part, and pass the egg nog!
