View Full Version : How is TMU supported?

I'm sort of curious about this.
TMO had limits on how much you could have up at a time, and it was shut down because, in the end, Lionhead didn't think the level of activity was enough to warrant the cost of keeping it running.
Here, we have seemingly indefinite upload space. How is this maintained? I've never seen ads or links for donations or anything that would cover the cost of hosting this amount of material. But then, I don't even know the technical side of how TMU is set up- do you have some way of offsetting costs?

Ken made a wager with the devil involving some fiddle playing. He lost and pays for our fine establishment out of the goodness of his ill begotten soul. We are all Annies to his Daddy Warbucks.

Grew up in Stone Mountain Ga where every year we went to the laser show on the mountain and every year they played the Devil Went Down to Georgia (right before the 4 confederate generals proceed to ride off the mountain and into the glow ring encrusted sunset....whoohoo the south will rise again!). I wouldn't say Im a fan so much as the damn thing is ingrained in my noggin like a caveman drawing.

Could we set up method for members to make donations towards the running cost of the site?
Voluntary of course.

We've suggested to Ken about the PayPal donation button, but he says the sites are within his budget atm. He is indeed, Da Man!
But feel free pay your thanks to him.

He gave me my chance when I thought I'd lost it, and I'm not going to let it go.
Thanks Ken.

Okay, let's not go crazy here!
As mentioned, this has come up amongst the mods - and as I told them, the total monthly cost for TMOA and TMU comes out to just a tiny bit more than I make in a day (yes, I am grossly overpaid...do not inform them of that fact).
We are growing, we are consuming more resources, and the day may come (hopefully) that we need to bump it up a notch - and the day could conceivably come when the cost is too much for me to bear alone - at that point, I'll put up the donation button and let everybody know - till then, it's cool - TMOA is my hobby, the movie site is fun, and the forums...okay, I'm not a forums guy, so this is clearly some kind of karmic revenge....

Indeed... mind you, we all know Ken will sell Roger off for medical experiments if the cash flow starts to dry up...

Vegas only takes real money. I found out the hard way. I went out there last year with all my VC. Being the big shot movie exec I expected a warm welcome. Well I guess the VC was really just fake money. This whole time I haven't been working thinking I'm a rich man. Well I think its time to sell the mink coat. I've got it on Ebay. So if anyone is looking to buy its item number 260344945663. Please hurry as I hope the credit card companies don't start calling soon.
Okay I was just joking there. Lets be serious.
Ken thanks a ton for setting this up. If we ever get to that point I think you should sell advertising to adultfriendfinder.com. I found my wife on there and she is a great woman. I don't really know where she goes 4 nights of the week but when she comes home to take care of my 6 step children its like heaven on earth.
OKAY I'm done. I just wanted to say something short and sweet but it turned into a monster.
THANKS AGAIN KEN. Don't do the advertising I will happily donate like many other great people. This is a great site. I'm beyond happy that its here.
:shit:
