Since I have dropped out of the scene I wasn't sure where to post this - so I will post it here.
Skinshack is now machinimods.com (http://www.machinimods.com) All new interface and all scaled down to just the mods. Open and easy to add mods.
hi everyone who remembers my name:4:

I get a server error sometimes when I click the link.
But if you select Platform Filter: The Movies then click Home it sometimes boots up to the screen pictured above. :3:

Good deal, Trip - thanks a ton for keeping the 'shack alive in this new form.
Skinshack always hosted a collection of some of the most interesting and unique mods available, and it's great that those mods can keep enriching people's movies, thanks to you.
I'll change the skinshack link in the menu to the new URL and the new name.

first off this is not a cheesy bump or anything - i just didn't want to start a new thread, but i am curious to something.
im sure if i dug around for a few hours i might find some answers.
everyone here still all about TheMovies, or have some embraced iClone or MovieStorm? i ask because i was suprised at the response the new site is getting from the MovieStorm camp. there doesn't seem to be an iClone camp. that might be due to its cost. i love the latest iClone - just wish i had time.
-holding back poitless ramble about animals-
edit:
holy crap - i didn't even realize it would be a double post. is some new upstart going to yell at me?

Actually a number of people here are using both MovieStorm and iClone - some are people who've moved on from The Movies (Sisch, Roger, KingPengvin to MovieStorm, myself, Dulci, Biggstrek, Lizard to iClone) as well as both MovieStormers and iCloners who have joined our lil' moviemaking community.
One of the things you'll find with iClone users is that the ease of importing almost any imaginable 3D content into the software, whether through the Google 3D Warehouse or any .obj/.3ds file acquired anywhere, might be making them more blase' about a mod site - for example, I've been both grabbing freebies and buying the occasional complete set or 3d model as needed.
Honestly, based on my own experience and what I've heard, one of the needs in both communities is costuming - creating completely new costumes (as opposed to retexturing/recoloring existing costumes) in MovieStorm is apparently very difficult/impossible - and though iClone's CloneCloth is very powerful, you do need some artistic skill to make something, and some of us (me me me) are sorely lacking in that area.
Certainly I'll be releasing all the mods for my current project that I can, including costumes (though they are kind of specific to my project, they might make a good jumping off point for somebody), and hopefully so will others using iClone and MovieStorm - and Machinimods seems a perfect place to do that.

Thanks Trip! I like the new name.
i have 2 $25 visa gift cards and no clue what to do with them. so i picked up the name. too bad i had to turn off the mask becuse it messed with the authentication.
glad to hear people are branching out, yet staying together. i love iClone(currently using 3.0) and the 3dexchanger is freaking great. i have converted a bunch of TM sets and lot buildings. somewhere i have a demo video.

Thanks, killerbee. It is nice to resurface in a way and see familiar faces. I guess I was wrong with thinking people were putting TM to the side - totally surprised at the volume of downloads from the site.
you still have modcafe? i am still willing to provide active feeds in the interest of letting other sites offer up the content from machinimods.com

Invaluable resource in the old days, and fast becoming a brilliant one-stop for all three current anymation packages; kudos to you :)

Thanks Trip! I like the new name.thanks. it came out of nowhere and i was a bit suprised it was avail.
i am not here to pimp the site...honest. you will never see one of the old style update threads. but because i consider you all family thanks to the history we share(good and bad) i just wanted to drop a note.
there has been some behind the scenes work involving the direction of the new site, and thanks to a few people it seems like it might have a positive future.
without going into details here is what i feel good about: there is no team, there is no person attached to the site, the site has no ownership or control over the content -it is all about the artists. all the modders have open access to edit, and remove their work as they please.
so, for now machinimods will be looking like it currently does, while stuff happens. i guess i am just excited, since it appears that a place like the invisioned future of the site does not already exist. ok maybe i am not that excited but more like stalling because i sat at my computer just now to knock out some code.
honest. i just logged in to PM Ken :57:

Thanks so much for this great site.
I posted about it on the TMU blog (http://tmunderground.blogspot.com/2009/02/machinimodscom.html), and this morning I saw that it's been complimented over on this blog (http://www.machinimafordummies.com/articles/2009/02/13/machinimods-useful-nascent-site) as well.

thanks for the nice words and support and all that. since i ditched the old dyndns.org crap. [lastnight] i figured i would do a google on the new name and was shocked to see it mentioned on a few other sites.
i really wish i could find an easy way to express how much this site is going to be controlled by the masses without sounding like i am pitching the new features....or pitching the site.
and when i say controlled by the masses i mean you only have to deal with me a bit during this begenning time. i will do my well practiced fade out and my only connection to the site will be for some of my lame ass new mods for iClone and MS.
i miss you all.....
i shouldn't have responded to this thread, but i think this might be the first time Dulci ever said anything my direction (insert some sort of smilie here)
