Good to see this in here.
Is there a good hot-linkable website where we can upload music to? I guess I could set-up a MySpace page but it's not ideal.

Here you go, Tooling Up - the download link is: http://www.datafilehost.com/download-b1c24462.html
If you do use it, I'd appreciate it if you posted the movie in my Stoke's Music Channel over on TMU. I enjoy seeing how my stuff's been used.

OK, I've thought of doing this for a while, so now's my chance, I guess...
I present to TMUG the soundtrack I created for 'The Terrible Old Man' (http://www.tmunderground.com/watch/f506af761d2277d853a9/The-Terrible-Old-Man):
01-IntroTitles (http://biggstrek.googlepages.com/TTOM-01-IntroTitles.mp3)
02-ScareyDog (http://biggstrek.googlepages.com/TTOM-02-ScareyDog.mp3)
03-OldMansGarden (http://biggstrek.googlepages.com/TTOM-03-OldMansGarden.mp3)
04-ThreeHoodsAndAPlan (http://biggstrek.googlepages.com/TTOM-04-ThreeHoodsAndAPlan.mp3)
05-LetsDotIt (http://biggstrek.googlepages.com/TTOM-05-LetsDoIt.mp3)
06-OldManInside (http://biggstrek.googlepages.com/TTOM-06-OldManInside.mp3)
07-RushTheOldMan (http://biggstrek.googlepages.com/TTOM-07-RushTheOldMan.mp3)
08-BeachStreetAndCar (http://biggstrek.googlepages.com/TTOM-08-BeachStreetAndCar.mp3)
Made using Sony ACID and various Magix loops (and Sony ones, too).
I don't know how usable it will be, but as background music it might do OK.
Enjoy! (and don't forget to credit me, please...)

Well, it aint the bees knees but its my first FL Studio software release. Took me about 2 weeks to finally make something that almost qualifies as a useable song. Not sure whats up with the end. Ill have to look into sustaining the endings.

Nice one biz - it's an unusual, quirky piece; I can envisage it bring played in a dreaming/hallucinating scene.
Dulci - thanks for posting my channel link, I really must learn how to do it .... so many buttons ....

Oh, that fills me with great sadness. :-( I only just joined up with that site and I don't know what the problem is. Anyone else tried downloading it? Anyone got it working?

By the way, TheBiz, you're tune sounded kind of aquatic to me. I could imagine it in an O The Ocean sequel.
Roger your tune downloaded fine for me
it was a real cool listen... not what i expected at all... serves me right for expecting things

So I got it into my head that I wanted to have a go at making some music. This stuff is the result. I used Mixcraft and some elements I have and tossed all in and this is what came out.
Enjoy if you use, just let me know about it!

the tune of crimson-esque-ness has been put on hold.
let me set the scene:
In a music store while pulling off a blistering sweep picking solo.
a kid walked by and said "you suck!"
ego shattered
now I just stare at my guitar as it mocks me "I'm the one with the sustain and talent" "you're just the eyecandy"
hours upon hours i say "i hate you for bringing this shame on me and my family name"
i raise my had to strike the offending "un"strument...
then i just buff her shiny surface with an all natural cloth
she sits and judges me even now "you dont play me like you used to... you're not even a man"
in short... should be done sometime later

I'm not suggesting that your guitar's been running around on you behind your back, 6er, but are you sure that kid in the store wasn't just trying to throw you off your game - a sneaky ploy so's he could make a move on your six-stringed amour? I mean isn't it a bit suspicious the way he showed up there just at that moment? What you need to do now is challenge that little snitch to a blistering solo tournament, just like a scene out of "Crossroads", and you can whip his ass real good with some wonky time sigs and a frantic wah-wah.
Jase - ah, I like that new bluesy little number a lot. Those other two are still sounding purdy cool too. Sounds like you tweaked the first one a bit? Or maybe it just sounds different in headphones.

I'm unsure if this is the correct place to post this, but I've been using Kevin MacLeod Royalty Free music (http://incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free/) in quite a few of my live action shorts. It all free to download and use as long as you credit the creator and site, and there are some really high quality tracks there, recommend checking it out.

Well, close, mustachio. :chef: I think it's a thread where you post your own music.
But anyways, I've been hearing some very nice tunes on this thread. Great work, guys!

After tinkering around in Magix Music Editor, I came up with these two pieces of trailer music (if you wanna call 'em that). Tell me what ya' guys think:

Rebel's First Thought: http://8eyedbaby.com/8eyedCM/content/displayMods.php?ModID=2950

Truth be told Orky; Newclear was SFX. Not bad SFX, but one sample would have done. Yes it increased at the end, but... meh.
Hmm, onto Rebel... I'm reminded of William Goldman's adage of writing: come in as late as possible.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of repetition, but it has to layer. I'm a huge fan of building from one measure, then two, etc.
Just my initial thoughts.

Interesting thoughts Norrie, thanks for sharing :). Both songs are intended to be used for relatively deep trailers; with Newclear, I intended to have the images change as the sound is heard, with each image becoming increasingly more "in-depth" if that makes sense. IE, lets say we used it for a post-nuclear war movie. We'd have images of daily life, then as the second layer of sound kicks in, we'd have images of news reports, army personel, yadda yadda. Then as the "boom" kicks in, we'd have images of destroyed rubble, mutated creatures (assuming it was going down a "Fallout" kind of route)and at the very end, with the beeping and such, the launch of a nuclear missile. As for Rebel, it's mean't to be played to the mind of an android as it goes from repetitive orders to suddenly becoming sentient.
In short, I think my songs are probably a bit too particular for general use, but ya' never know, we may see some cool stuff done with them.
Thanks again for listening, really appreciate it! :)

Man you're intense Orky :)
Mind you; how wonderful would it be if someone took that description and made a film of it?
Sad to say, that's rarely what music does. It's another actor, not the writer. I'll be interested in your thoughts if and when someone wants to chop them up into a zombie film :D

I found this one site ages back, http://www.wavemage.com/main-en.html
It's got music composed by this guy called Jan Morgenstern who's done soundtracks to a couple of short films (which you can watch online and download the soundtrack to). There's a good range of music to choose from. All you need to do is mention where you got the music from and Jan won't get ticked off (or Creative Commons)
Enjoy! :walkman:
cheers,
