View Full Version : Memorable Taglines

I think we all now some movie tags that simply stay with us for one reason or another:
Who will survive and what will be left of them?
-That tag is far more gruesome than the movie ever was.
In Space no one can hear you scream.
-Given that movie wasn't as gruesome as my juvenile mind made it out to be either, but it did scare me (no I didn't scream).
Do you hate spiders? Do you really hate spiders? Well they don't like you either.
-Love it, it's just so true.
And one that will sure stay with me for its pure stupidity is from the German version of the poster for Pulse (the Kairo remake):
You are dead before you die.
-Not sure if they used that in the US, too. And what the hell is it supposed to mean?

-You've read the ad, now see the movie!
That's probably the only tagline that I've ever remembered.

"All the world will be your enemy,
Prince with a thousand enemies,
and when they catch you, they will kill you...
But first they must catch you."
You can't tell me you don't know this one, it's a classic!
And the tag for the German release of the the movie "Shooter":
-"When a picture is saying more than a thousand words, then this movie says it all"
I love stupid tags. :)
"I am serious, and don't call me shirly."

Just saw a new tagline which I think is so perfect it should go down for the ages:
"He was dead. He got Better"
Now, what part of that is not hilariously bad?

Itīs Benjamin Button... I know a lot of poeple were disappointed by the film, but I actually loved it. It has a really lovly score(one of the best Iīve heard lately) and no flow in the story and timeline it just goes on and on and I was captivated by the film the whole 2:40h. I agree that the performences of Cate and Brad could have been better, but itīs not like itīs destorying the film... Anyway this is not about the films...^^ just like the tagline =)

Ah-ha. That's the one with the guy who starts off old and ends up as a baby.
What about this one - Danny Boyle's first effort:
"The award winning thriller that'll bury you with laughs."
(Shallow Grave)
I didn't find it at all funny, apart from early on when they draw lots to see who is going to chop up the body, and when Ewan McGregor is being nasty to the prospective housemates. Great film though, very intense towards the end.

Guess it's like how Slumgdog seemed to have ads on busses saying "The Feel-good Comedy of the year"
Not sure where the comedy elements come into scenes of child torture...

Hehe - it wasn't feelgood at all.
!!!!!!!!!! SPOILER WARNING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even when he gets the girl (and the 20 000 000 rps) at the end. She has had her (extremely beautiful) face permanently scarred down one side on account of him. He has been hideously tortured throughout the film, even diving into crap. He has seen a friend deliberately blinded because blind people earn more begging money. His brother has been murdered (after not at all being on nice terms with him for much of the movie). Only the final dance routine was in any way feelgood (and some of the gags - such as the chilli-dick gag)
!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SPOILERS OVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lol - "feel-good comedy" - not in 20 million years!
Bloody good film though - it deserved the Oscar, no question.
Here's my own tagline:
"Mascot. Cheer him. Fear him."

Love those lines Thowaxe. :)
The German poster for Ninja in the Dragon's Den had the famous tagline:
"When they win they are no heroes, when they lose death is certain for them."
And the Charlie Bravo tagline:
"War needs no heroes, it only needs machines that fulfill orders."
