Who are the actors or actresses that, right now, you hold as your favorite(s)?

Two for me are:

Jack Lemmon - I always liked his wit. Lemmon's gravestone simply reads 'Jack Lemmon — in'. He was mainly a comedian but the one film of his that made me take notice of his abilities was
"Days of Wine and Roses".

Renée Zellweger - A true chameleon. Cold Mountain to
Cinderella Man to Bridget Jones. She's not afraid to be seen without makeup or with a few extra pounds on her.

Always tough answering FAVORITE....I guess I cant. I mean Deniro, Nicholson, Walken, Pacino, and the other greats come to mind, but an absolute fav is way hard for me, this will require further thought sir.

Good one on Lemmon; an underated actor with a very good range... it's a shame he wasn't better appreciated for his non-comedic roles during his lifetime...

De Niro is one from me; obviously, first came to the public notice playing mafia roles (Godfather II) and the seminal Taxi Driver, but went onto The Deer Hunter, The King of Comedy, Awakenings, Cape Fear, Midnight Run, etc, and his most recent offerings Meet the Parents, as well as the smattering of gangster roles that have pigeonholed him amongst most of the movie going public (Goodfellas, The Untouchables et al). The doyen of method actors.

Hmmm well today I'm going with...

Scarlett Johansson
I love her in The Girl with the Pearl Earring, Lost in Translation, and yes, even The Island. Beautiful but unobtrusive. Something strikingly innocent about her.

Ewan McGregor
Talk about a versatile actor. Moulin Rouge, Star Wars, Down With Love, hey The Island for him too (I guess I liked that movie more than I thought I did). He's not afraid to take risks.

Tough question....

favourite male actors:

Kevin Spacey, Christopher Walken and yeah, Robert De Niro (I like him especially when he's funny), too.

Ladies I go for Uma Thurman and Sigourney Weaver (I like women to be tough and tall :D)

There's more great ones out there... but these came first to my mind.

Ewan McGregor
McGregor did a good singing as well in the closing scenes of "Down with Love" co-staring Renée Zellweger. She doesn't quiet have his voice ability but did make the tassels in her Go-Go / flapper dress dance well. :59:

Betty Hutton, Myrna Loy, Diana Rigg, Maggie Cheung, Judie Dench, Laura Linney, Joan Allen...

Johnny Depp, Tony Leung, Ron Perlman, Jean Reno, Anthony Hopkins, Peter Sellers, Marlon Brando...

Christopher Lee - He was great when he was playing dracula through the 50/60/70's. But I thought he was a proper actor when I watched his performance in 'The Wicker Man'. It was very different to any roles he did previously.

Val Kilmer - I admired this actor as soon as he protrayed the 60's rock star 'Jim Morrison' from the doors and being an actor myself, I would most probably find that role very challanging. He then moved on to playing Roger Moore's character in 'The Saint'. Again Excellent.

Heath Ledger - This actor has quality. I've seen him in a few movies such as 'The Patriot' with Mel Gibson and then seeing him complete what turns out to be a very successful approach to him, 'The Joker' in 'The Dark Knight'. His performance blew me away and I am just amazed on how he did it. RIP.

Marlon Brando - This actor is very powerful in the movie industry. By his name, he has protrayed many excellent roles. One which I was very impressed by is 'The Godfather'. This, I find, showed me that he has acting quality and not just a name.

Paul Newman - I find this actor very entertaining to watch. Mainly because he accepts different roles. I thoroughly enjoyed him in 'Road to Prediction'. He deserved that oscar and there's no doubt about it.

Cary Grant - He really chose his movies carefully. And by that, he has come out to be a very interesting actor and I admire him very much. I mainly did in 'North By Northwest'. This was excellent and he's acting was an enjoy.

Daniel Craig - A more recent hollywood star. He doesn't just wear a tux, you know! I've seen a numberous of his movies and every role he's played from various movies have been different. For instance 'Infamous' when his playing an homo-sexual to 'Layer Cake' where he plays a drug dealer to 'Casino Royale' playing the top British agent. One I admire.

Johnny Depp - Again, his roles have been different. Personally, I think this actor has played anything and everything. I just find his performances a thrill to watch. 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and 'Sweeny Todd' shows how well he can actually act.

There, I will post more, if I can remember more :)

Katherine Hepburn is very much at the top of my list of all-time favorites, as is Audrey Hepburn.

Cary Grant, James Stewart.

My all-time-ever-ever favorite movie is The Philadelphia Story, so you get the wonderful combination of Katherine Hepburn, James Stewart, and Cary Grant.

Liv Tyler is in no way the greatest actress in the world but she makes me feel a bit giddy and it pleases me to know she's going to be in a film I'm about to watch. Her goofy performance in that film "Jersey Girl" by Kevin Smith (Ben Affleck, J-lo, that cool old comedian guy who died not so long ago and some little kid) made that movie watchable even though I thought the whole thing was utterly sickly-sweet schmaltzy rubbish that made me question whether Kevin Smith is actually any good as a writer/director. I also wanted the Liv Tyler character to be the central character in Lord Of The Rings. Possibly a controversial viewpoint - heehee.

Gene Hackman is in almost every film ever made. And there's a good reason for that - he's one of the best ever character actors. (I need to watch Francis Ford Coppola's "The Conversation" again some time - I remember that being great.)

I'm not mad on old black and white movies but I like the ones that have Cary Grant in them. He was my Granny's favourite. The early screwball comedies are great - "Arsenic & Old Lace" and "Bringing Up Baby" - and so were the later films, like "Charade" with Audrey Hepburn.

I don't understand Keira Knightly's success - she's kind of anorexic looking and a totally wooden actor. I thought the other star of "Bend It Like Beckham", Parminder Nagra, was a much better actor, and prettier too.

I saw an excellent interview tonight with Tony Curtis, aka Bernard Shwarts. Not sure when this was shot, but there was a Mac with a 9" monitor in the background.

Anyhow, what an interview! He was candid and into it, he remembered everyone from his heyday and quite frankly some of the clips showed just how good he became. I would not have thought of Tony on my best of list... but damn it.. NOW HE'S ON!!

Favourite actor took me a while, but I'm going for (maybe oddly) Michael Caine.

I think he's a better actor than he gets credit for (The man who would be King, Sleuth, Educating Rita, Little Voice), and I like his attitude.

Actress was easy: the great Jodie.

Arnie (Terminator 1 &2, Total Recall and Last action hero)

Tom Hanks (But not all of his films)

Ethan Hawke

John Hurt ( Elephant man and The Naked Civil Servant in particular)

Jennifer Anniston (All her movies that I have seen I have enjoyed. For her acting that is.)

Audrey Hepburn (Thanks for this one Doc!)

Charlie Chaplain (I have liked what I have seen.)

Charlie Chaplin is a true legendary actor, especially in The Great Dictator, a very controversial movie, but hilarious.

Well some of you will probably guess that my favorite Actor is John Wayne, He is a very different actor if you get what I mean?

Tom Hanks is a very good actor also, but I take Norrie hates him for winning an oscar for Forrest Gump.

Clint Eastwood is another favorite actor of mine, he has played some great roles such as Dirty Harold...cough...Dirty Harry, The Man with no name and many more.

Al Pacino is a brilliant actor, from "SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND" in Scarface to Oceans Thirteen, Hell they could of given him that recent AFI Award that he recently recieved back in the 80's.

Sean Connery - Even though he can't do an accent to save his life, he is still a great actor and yet again he may not of been all in good movies but he recieved his long awaited oscar for Jimmy Malone in The Untouchables.

Robert De Niro - A superb actor with a special touch for mob movies, it was like he was born to be in mob movies, he is just great in them especially in The Godfather part two, which put him on the map.

and now for actresses.

Damn this is very hard.

My favorite is probably Meryl Streep, there never seems to be a fault in her movies.

and I've seen a few of her movies but... Audrey Hepburn is another actress that I like and don't usually watch them kind of movies but they where very original.

Well I don't think I have to name my favorite actress, lol. I have probably seen most of Hepburns films, except for the 80s ones like "Bloodline" and "They All Laughed".

My three favorites are:
Roman Holiday
The Nun's Story
Two for the Road

My favorite actors are a trifecta:

Rober DeNiro: My opinion, the most talented actor ever. He is the definiteion of method acting done right.
Three Favorites
Taxi Driver
Goodfellas
Raging Bull

Peter O'Toole: Another actor who is ridiculously talented actor, who has been snubbed of Oscar gold waaay too many times.
Three Favorites
Lawrence of Arabia
Lion in the Winter
The Stunt Man

Paul Newman: The man defines class. Not to mention he is able to easily fit into almost any role.
Three Favorites
Cool Hand Luke
The Hustler
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Ah well, let's see:

Michelle Pfeiffer, it's an ongoing romance since into the night (and other than Ingrid Bergman she's still alive) :8:

Holly Hunter, she's an amazing actress that goes seemingly effortless from comedy to drama and when she smiles that innocent little girl smile of hers it breaks your heart.

Sigourney Weaver, she redefined the heroine for the new century. And if you haven't seen Copycat you have to watch it just to see how two brilliant actresses (her and Holly Hunter) can transform a mideocre thriller into a true classic.

Geena Davis, another great actress that rewrote the heroine concept. Much underappreciated.

Isabelle Adjani, I will never truly get Mortelle randonnée, but her performance never fails to fascinate me.

Jeff Goldblum, really the man took Mister Frost and made the movie completly his own, but in a very subtle, suave way.

Christopher Walken, fear the Walken.
He's great, such presence.

Piper Perabo, she starred in some fine movies (Coyote Ugly is not one of them, IMO) and proved herself to be a fine actress whose quality is too easily overlooked.

There are a lot more most of which have already been named, like
Humphrey Bogart
Audrey Hepburn
Veronica Lake
Ida Lupino
Edward G. Robinson
James Cagney
Mary Stuart Masterson
Meredith Salenger
Whoopie Goldberg
Joanna Pacula
Hugh Grant (I like his romance movies)
Colin Firth

oh, and I'm a huge fan of Amanda Bynes, really say what you want I think she's truly funny.
