I made a TMO version of this a while back, with no voice-overs. So one day (months later) another member brought it up to me, and I suddenly got interested in adding voice-overs to the project. But I couldn't use the same exact version, mainly because a computer crash wiped out all the modded files - it took a long time to turn everything except like six things black and white. So I decided to avoid using TMO, and with the rise of TMUnderground, it only fueled my interest in this project further.
CHICAGO BLOOD
It's a very romantic story about a mobster's struggle to keep his power. Not romantic as in "lovey-dovey", but a very dark, but elegant portrayal of everything.

The final cast was just compiled last night, so I'm proud to announce it to you all.

SnakeEater42 as Vinnie Caruso
BlackRoseProductions (Me) as Frank Salieri
Pookashells as Detective Thomas Miranda
TFoster as Captain Johnson
Dulci as Scarlette Luciano

Unfortunately, I won't be reposting the visual test I originally had uploaded onto TMUnderground, but deleted after I was forced to switch accounts. But you can check out some production photos at my Windows LiveSpace (http://blackroseproductions.spaces.live.com/). :)
I'll definitely be posting more updates here, so stay tuned! (Wow, that was a dumb way to end this thread...) ;)

Solid Script, I really liked it. Great Dialog, not over done, but tuned just right. I hope I dont screw it up..heh.
Between the script and the visual test, I'm stoked about it enough that I chased down the role!

Okay. Project's NOT dead. Don't worry. Just been busy adjusting to my new schedule (what with school and all...). So I sat down and retouched a few more scenes today. It's looking really good, in my opinion. :)
Estimated Release: Late Fall or Early Winter

Hey guys, sorry I've been out so long. Been busy with school.
Anyways, this movie is nearly done. It's right there. The only thing I'm working on right now is securing rights to use the music (an original score just wasn't possible at the moment, with my schedule and all). But I'm hoping that everything will be good and the movie will be completed by mid-November, as originally planned.

Reviewed. You're my favorite up and coming director! I love the films you've made under your 'equinoxpictures' TMU ID.

Thanks for all the kind words, you guys :) Glad to know you're anxious for the film to be released.
Principle photography is done, and so is most of the editing. I'm thinking about the flow of the film right now, and if I need to shoot any additional inserts. That's when work with the music begins... Still not sure if I should do an original noir score, or find noir compositions and get permission... Opinions?
Also, due to some editing issues, there will be NO Sin City effect. Just black and white. Sorry to all those who wanted that effect, but it looks so much better without it.
I'm hoping for an end of November release on this, probably around the 28th to the 30th.

I never Sin City- though it came on the Sci-Fi channel today. Good luck with the SFX, because I'm planning on using bullet-time for mine, and I won't compromise in the least to push that effect. And from what I seen from the trailer, it seems that the true effects have been planted in nicely enough.

The film is complete.
:)
Well, at least everything but the soundtrack... So can I get some opinions about that? I don't know if I should spend an extra few weeks working on a custom soundtrack, when it'll take me (minimum) one day to get permission to use other people's tracks (some of which I really really like). Thoughts?
And by the way, I'm setting a release date of December 1st, 2008.

Hmmm. Well, here's the philosophical answer...
What do YOU think? :P
(Hardly helpful, I know, but bear with me here...)
Do you think that the finished product will suffer in any way by having existing music attached to it? Or, put another way, do you think the finished product will be enhanced considerably by the addition of a custom soundtrack?
These kinds of questions are really not the kind of thing uninvolved people should answer, to be honest; although we want to see this as soon as possible, if in YOUR opinion it would be better one way or another, then go down that route.
If one of these answers outweighs the other, I'd say go with that one, myself, even if (for example) you go with the custom option and it delays things a coupla weeks, if you think the movie will benefit from the extra enhancement this will bring, then go for it.

Equinox, he's the best thing to do:
If you know of any soundtracks that would be good, then go ahead and get permission for the songs you know would be decent- but, I strongly recommend that you get a custom music orchestration for the beginning and ending credits. Just my opinion.

My thoughts; as someone who has done a few scores around these parts?
I turned down two noir gigs. It is, in my opinion, the hardest thing to score. Unless you're a pro with a full orchestra, noir is well nigh impossible. (Brass and woodwind are a bitch).
To me, Noir is about mood; if you have tracks that you like and feel they fit; use them. Karl Brown once made a wonderful movie here that was subtitled; with in game music (Rain Swept Neon) and it worked because of the mood of the writing and direction.
If you know things that fit, use them. That's my tuppenceworth.

Oh screw December 1st...it's way too far away, and I'm completely satisfied with the film as it is. Turned out a lot better than I thought it would, actually. So anyways, it'll be released in a matter of hours or days, depending on how long compressing it takes...
