Ok, I must admit that they're a lot of cheesy movies out there and sometimes a sad ending just makes it more cheesy. But however, if it goes well, it can be un-cheesy. So what movie(s) made you cry?

Mine
Titanic
The Godfather Part 3
Armageddon

There 'ya go, I've done my bit and now it your turn :001_tongue:

Two of the ones I didn't expect to cry during:

Lord of the Rings
I am Legend (i cried at several scenes, but at least I had the theatre all to myself so no one knew I was secretly crazy - well, until now that is)

I usually don´t crie but I had a few tears crawling out at the end of Gladiator and The Last Samurai.

"Lady And The Tramp" made me cry. I was about 19 and went to see it with my new girlfriend, Audrey, at the cinema. I cunningly concealed my tears by laughing riotously at the next vaguely funny scene.

Audrey always chose the films: we also went to see "Short Circuit 2" and "Rainman", but those didn't make me cry.

Haha - I wonder if she thought those would be good "make-out" movies. :001_tongue:

Ya know, I'm not the weepy type, but I can say i did manage to get a wee bit of dust in my eye when I happened to watch a little film called "My Girl" and toward the end of Forrest Gump.

"Hilary and Jackie" is a film about the cellist Jacqueline du Pré. Rachel Griffith and Emily Watson is in it. I don’t think I’ve ever cried like that since I turned 2. That, and "Wall-e." LOL. (No,seriously.)

When I was little (back in my catholic skool days...it hink i was in 3rd grade) I bawled my eyes out over 'Where the Red Fern Grows'

in recent days, the only movie that made me spout tears everywhere was GRINDHOUSE (seeing it ni theaters with my buddies) I laughed so hard i cried hardcore. Amazing movie.

but i'll admit getting kindof teary-eyed in Boys Dont Cry *spoiler* i didnt like the movie, but after watching that chick get raped and killed and then her family gets killed and the little kid wanders out and watches its mom get blasted away...and then it says this was a true story...i was like oh goodness!

Two that come to mind

Sad cry:
Titanic - the scene where the mom is telling a story to her two children as they lay in bed locked below deck.

Happy cry:
The Pianist - making friends with the German Officer

Lady and The Tramp

I remember my parents taking me and my sister to see this when I was about ten. I started crying at the point where Tramp gets put into the the dog warden's van and didn't stop for the remainder of the film.

Once the film had finished, in their wisdom, my parents thought it would be an excellent idea to watch the whole film again. I started blubbering at exactly the same point as previously.

I saw it again not so long ago and nearly cried then but managed to hold it all in.

Forest Gump

I was at the cinema watching this when it got to the scene where Forest is at his wife's grave and he's crying "I love you". I could feel myself welling up but was managing to hold it all in quite well. Until, that is, this poor woman across the other side of the cinema starts crying really loudly and saying, "oh, that poor poor man, he didn't deserve that". At which point I could hold back no longer.

Aha - see, so I'm not the only one who got a severe kicking from this film! Mind you, I was 19 when I saw it the first time.

I've still not seen the Gump boy's movie.

The color purple
(Several scenes in that one are heartbreaking - Whoopi Goldberg & Oprah were excellent in this flick)
Boys Don't Cry - Affected me so much, I literally can't watch it ever again but great movie.
Million Dollar Baby - Another Hillary Swank movie - but equally as good.

Any movie that has to do with Jewish encampment or anything about Slavery.

Hotel Rwanda

Bastard out of Carolina - Another one I can't watch again

The notebook - Don't ask me why.

Far from Heaven

and ummm Dirty Dancing..I really thought baby would have to sit in the corner by herself.

Movies that have made me cry?

Too many to mention, but here's a few:

Old Yella (when I was 5.)

Terminator 2 ((Director's cut) The bit where the the son is with his dad who has been shot by Sarah Conner.)

Letters from Iwa Jima (The horror and tragedy of war.)

Elephant Man (When all he wanted was to lay down and sleep)

Before Sunrise (Because of the parting, I know what that feels like)

Before sunset. (When Celine sings Waltz for a Night, the line "I have no bitterness my sweet.)

Atonement (Such a moving film.)

And many, many more!

Man On The Moon

*spoilers, although as a biography, not really*

The final scene at Andy's funeral with him asking everyone to sing along to such a happy song is so sad, everyone singing and crying, only film that ever gets me close to crying, does that count?

That's close enough Ethan!

I think as we get older and gain a greater understanding of the World that become more prone to cry. Or is that just me?

At my Dad's funeral they played Rocking all over the World by Status Quo. I haven't been able to listen to it since, because I start filling up. :crying:

I was a bit upset about it at the time, because his favourite Quo song was Caroline, but my mum wouldn't allow it to be played because she knew someone she didn't like called Caroline. It was my Dad's day not hers! But that's another story.

Hmmm...

The closest I got was a lump in my throat in E.T. and Forrest Gump. Bruce Almighty made me cry laughing. The telepromter scene with Carell and Carrey made me bruise all my ribs and laugh so hard I couldn't breathe for a minute.

The only movie I've ever cried during was Cast Away with Tom Hanks. I lost it at the part where Wilson dropped off the raft (granted I was 5, but I still got verklempt when viewed it recently).

The only other movie that brought me very close to tears was Hotel Rwanda, particularly the scene when they're evacuating the tourists and the orphans arrive.

Also, I was close to tears of joy at the end of Cinema Paradiso when the older Toto watches Alfredo's film reel. Beautiful stuff.

FredTheDuck

never.

I have not once cried at a movie. I've come close, but never actually cried.

However - that's not a macho act or anything - just that I probably haven't seen enough movies to find one that's really affected me emotionally yet... :boat:

Then again... most of the movies I've seen are comedies... so...nothing really to cry at :001_tongue:

I don't cry a lot at films, I almost did at the end of Road to Perdition. I did however at The Shawshank Redemption the first time I saw it (now my favorite film), at Forest Gump and at a couple of places in Brassed off, mainly the scene where they play O' Danny Boy outside his hospital room window and at the speech in the Albert Hall.

Oh and I will cry at both Star Trek XI and The Watchmen movies if they mess them up.

Quick, change the subject before Norrie starts complaining about his lack of knowledge of American TV.

It brings back bitter memories biz. When I were a nipper, we weren't allowed to watch American TV shows... my father thought they were trite and brainless.

Mind you, he said the same about Britain's only commercial channel at the time. It was the BBC only for us younglings.

(We were allowed U.S. cartoons though... weird!)

This may surprise some; because I'm not American; hate Costner, and know nothing of baseball.

But Field of Dreams gets me every time. I know, I know, it's manipulative. But, "people will come Ray" and "Dad... you wanna catch" hit those buttons.

Plus Amy is adorable and the kid is bearable. And it's got the late, great Burt.

Anyone read the book? I'd like to read it, but I'm not sure if movie to book will work.

I heard a story on the interweb about a big porn star called Jemma Jamieson (might be apocryphal?) starting a Dollywood type thing dedicated to her. The tag line was:

If you come, they will build it.

I doubt it's true, but it made me giggle!

Honestly, I Am Legend made me cry twice. Once when he had to let his family go, and once when he had to let his dog go. I just had so much simpathy for the guy and I thought about how I would react if I were in his place. It was just too much.
