Great show today Green. I'm in awe at the entries this week. It's got me quakin' that's for sure. Totally blows away what people were putting out there in the last two weeks, in my opinion. That beat boxin' villain was the tops though.

Yes, Nwerdjim has provided some very entertaining performances. Next week's drama scene will be an interesting one and I am looking to see which performances are able to draw the audience into the emotion of the moment as well.
which ones the french judge?

The spy scene was the highest scores I have given out during the first round of the 2 years in this competition so far. The contestants for the most part nailed that scene. So well, that on my score sheet a 17 out of 21 was 11th place. I guess everyone likes to play the bad guy

When will the next scores be posted?
Once I get enough of the Judges evaluations in to be able to post a week. With the archery event, I was unable to send the forms to the judges earlier, so I am still waiting on the majority of the Horror Scene evals.
The next Team and Individual Scenes for the contestants will be available sometime Sunday.

Just getting my computer back up after my hard drive shorted. I am still trying to get the data off the hard drive so may be a bit before I get things going again.
Greenglades

The new computer is up and running
Unfortunately, I will need to get the data off my crashed drive still, but that won't affect the VOICE ( but I will need it for the GAGAs - unless I want to rewatch and rate a ton of movies in numerous categories). Since I screwed up my host server by entering the wrong password - downside of being lazy and keeping passwords saved on IE - I won't be able to post the new Horror Scores and updated rankings until tomorrow or when I get it unlocked again (hopefully both will be the same).
So here are the teasers....
Five judging scoresheets were received for the Horror Scene, I had 3 contestants ranked 21/21 for the Horror Scene. They were Dulci, EmeraldEdge, and Rposhard. No one scored a 21 on all 5 scoresheets and the 5th judge didn't score anyone a 21.
Here are the top 5 finishers for the Horror Scene. The full rankings and scores will be posted once I can get into my server again.
EmeraldEdge 1
Rposhard 2
Snakeeater 3
Roger 4
Dulci 5
Congratulations to our top finishers. A First Place finish gives that person a 5 point cushion as 1st=20 points and 2nd = 15 points.
EmeraldEdge and Roger, last year's winner and runner-up, continue to keep their run of strong performances going. The man of 1000 voices, Rposhard, is proving to be quite versatile in this competition. Although, ending with a weak scream, Dulci had a solid overall performance and Snakeeater has given himself a boost to get him back into the running.
How far down will Goofparade drop in the overall rankings? Where does everybody stand overall now? Stay tuned.....

Can we see how the rest of us did? Or was that data lost?
Greenglades
09-24-2008, 02:56 PM
I have the data, it's easier to host the jpeg on my website; this way I can use the same name and have the scores update without changing the url each time, unlike if I used one of the free image hosting sites. I know the extra delay is added drama. If I don't get my ftp back up today, I'll just host the images on imageshack to post them. So either way the full results for Sci-Fi and Action will be up today. If the ftp isn't up by today, I will e-mail the new scenes to the contestants as well.

And without further ado...
The results:
(Note: The judges are listed randomly and may vary from scene to scene, so there is no correlation between Judge from one scene to the next)
The scores are how the judges evaluated each contestant out of a total of 21 points. The ranking shows where the contestants ranked by each judge.
http://mesventures.com/greenglades/thevoice/horrorscores.gif
The Overall Rankings so far....
http://mesventures.com/greenglades/thevoice/overallscores.gif
There is a tight battle at the top between EmeraldEdge, Goofparade, and Rposhard, but an even tighter battle for the final qualifying spot for Round 2 - 10th place. That first place finish for Goofparade in Sci-fi proved to be important in keeping him in the top positions. With the strongest performances in the competition to be judged still in Action and Drama, this is shaping up to be a tough fight to the end.

I'd love to know who the five judges are.
"Jury of your peers"
"Primus inter pares"
"Quis custodiet ipsos custodes"
That sort of thing.
You know, in the spirit of openness, honesty, and fair disclosure.

The pool of judges was posted in the Lionhead Forums in the Voice on Air Sci-Fi Thread on Aug 7
(http://community.lionhead.com/forums/thread/2999757.aspx)
They are:
Judges:
TMO: Greenglades, Master007, Sparky1512, Jenniza, Lizard, DNR, Taffy Lake
Non-TMO: published author (sci-fi/fantasy); jewllery artisan; web designer
The only additions have been Bufu for TMO and 2 documentary filmmakers on the non-TMO side.
The ones in the pool who have sent in scores so far have been: Greenglades, Sparky1512, Jenniza, DNR, Taffy Lake, published author, documentary filmmakers.
The scores and results are posted so there is open disclosure. The judging panel was opened to all who weren't competing and some of those who made comments about the judging were asked to be part of the judging panel as well, but declined. Not everyone's scoresheet at home is going to match up all the time, especially when the evaluation form which is being filled out by the judges may cause the performances to be dissected differently from the audience.
A better discussion is probably to let me know what you look for when evaluating the performances and what criteria you are basing your evaluations on. This way maybe these can be incorporated into the evaluation process and then the results may match closer to what you (the audience) are looking at in the performances.

Well that answers any questions I may have had. Clarification is always interesting.

Everyone's opinion's are going to vary. I think it is fairer having a number of judges than just one. If anyone saw AFI's top 10 movie list of the various genres - does anyone's list match up exactly with all of theirs?
I will be happy to discuss my scores and results. Sci-Fi- I was Judge 1 and Horror I was Judge 2.
Judges will judge as they see fit and it looks like there are some people who know a thing or two about voice acting (aside from master007)..
so let it remain as it is.
cut the fat and get down to the cream of the vocal crop

I am almost finished revamping the website. All the scenes should be up before day's end. The first two team scenes are up and the format for the rest of the competition.

There are 3 Team Scenes posted now. I know when I checked the first time there were only 2. Two out of the three scenes are really dark.
And you are correct about them not being easy.

Back all, there are those times that work becomes a marathon and I won't be able to leave for days. Hopefully it won't happen too often.
All the team scenes are up. Yeah 2 are rough, so I added a third one to help if the scores don't allow for enough separation with the two.
I will try and get the individual scenes up by tonight.
The new scenes are going up before we know if we're moving on in the competition?
Yes, to try and minimize the delay between getting the voice samples and getting the results. As for results.. I will announce the results for the action scene this Sunday, so some contestants may be mathematically eliminated at that point.

So far no one is mathematically eliminated, but for some to move up they will have to have a very good performance in the drama scene.

Things should run easier now that the I don't have to worry about making armor again for a few months. (This weekend was the last major tounrament for the year)

Back all , sorry for the delay, a family emergency took me across country (driving from Cali to Florida and back) and in the time that passed I guess I missed a bidding war over my domain name, wish I got the money from it... Anyway I have to change my server stuff again and get the site back up. The radio show should start up again in 2 weeks and I'll let you know when the site is up and get the next set of scenes going to avoid too much delay.

Excuse the delay in The Voice, but life likes to change your priorities and plans without your consent. My Mom died on Dec 22nd and I ended up having to fly to Florida to help take care of the arrangemets and to try and get everything on my family's end on that side in order (it's not and far from it). I got back "home" maybe a week or 2 ago and trying to find a new place and move has been my next project and hopefully should be moved in within the next 2 weeks. The projected return date for The Voice at its earliest is March 1st provided the cable company believes in the same deadline as I do (we all know what their schedules can be like) and I don't take any more major blows to the psyche. I think I have hit all the major stressors listed in the DSM IV within two months
Until, until
