View Full Version : Unable to watch my own (private) movie

Yeah, this is the silliest thing I've seen in a while. I just uploaded my old UPM movie. I did it private to check if my voice issues were still present. Anyway, now when I try to watch it, I get the very laughable response:
Errors have occured: You must be a friend of this user to watch his/her private video(s)!
Apparently I don't like ME well enough to be my own FRIEND!
(In anticipation of the inevitable: "Shut up, Ken.")
:surrender:

...this has so many existential possibilities...
However, it IS pretty silly you can't see your own private movies, it has to be said...

Ok....Is that some symptom of insanity...
I'm joking...but this issue is just unusual...maybe..You should PM ken about it..

I'm hoping young Ken will see this thread (as he usually does) and wave his magic wand...
The movie in question:

Have any of your designated friends tried to watch it?
Might be good info for Sharemixer.

I asked nahton to view it, and he says he could. So it's just ME, being unable to view my own, private video.
Anyone (Norrie?) care to do a little experiment and upload a private video and see if they can view it themselves?
All for the greater good... :yinyang:

Sure. Give me 10 minutes.
[edit] Same thing here. I'm not my friend. (true, I can't stand myself)
Interestingly, there is no option for password sharing that Ken talked about on Sisch's thread.
I'm guessing it's a simple coding error where they forgot to add an "|| self" to the view permissions.
[edit edit] Ah, the password option appears when you edit the film after uploading. Still won't let me watch it though.

Interesting....
Will pass this along to them - I'm guessing Norrie is right - they forgot to make permissions for private videos self + friends (the 1.5 update to the script was a 90% rewrite, to make changing things and adding new features easier for them.)
Will pass this along - expect a fix pretty soon, if past experience is any guide.
[Edit: And now, less than 45 minutes later, they tell me it's fixed - was something to do with the incomplete database upgrade - please check and let me know]

Yes, I can view it now, thanks Ken and co.
(Won't mention that for a moment, it had totally vanished from my list of videos, then when I returned, it was back...)
:)
[EDIT: still has a bit of the rumbling sound artifacts that bother me... but at least I can watch it now.]

And I can watch a freaky crazy talk thingy... and the password bit worked.
