Is it possible? To somehow convert a YouTube video to, say, a WAV, WMA, MP3 format? Or would I only be able to convert it to a WMV file? Or not at all? Is this enough questions?

You can convert it to whatever you want.

Go to this site (http://www.downloadyoutubevideos.com/) to download the FLV file. Then go to this site (http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/download.htm) and download MediaCoder which will let you export the FLV file as whatever. I can't remember if it exports the audio only, but if it doesn't just throw it into any editing program and export the audio only.

Depending upon your sound card Audxacity will give you the option to record sounds directly from your pc. I have this on my comp at work and can therefore record the sounds from whatever I am watching. Not so much on my comp at home. Cest la vie. Check audacity to see if you have this option.

edit - or what b6 says

The other day I used the same software I use for screen capture to get sound off a video. That's another option if you have Fraps for PC, SnapzPro for Mac or anything like that.

choose a youtube link, and download it in various formats, one being mp3....
