What turned you on to gaming?

What turned you onto gaming? Was it the advance in gaming systems, one game itself, or a friend?

It was being socially the outcast, as when the PS1 originally came out, I was one of few who didn't have one, because I didn't see the need... but, eventually, I got one too, as that was all that kids seemed to talk about: gaming, and I wanted a conversation occasionally too. When I got it, I just played and played and played - and loved it, and so understood exactly why everyone loved it too. Sure, I didn't talk about it as much, but I still got the odd conversation, which made a change :)

I'm not a serious gamer though, by any stretch of the imagination...

Being brought a Grandstand Games Console in the early 70's with several variations of pong on it. I have been a gamer pretty much ever since.

Interestingly I did not, mostly because it was released around ten years before I was born. It was the first console I got though, shortly after, I was given an Atari and then a Master System.

So, I think it was been given a Master System that cemented my interest in games. Once I got my hands on my first windows PC though (The computers I'd had previously were DOS based and I didn't find them so interesting) there was no turning back.

For me it was the Master System I got for my 10th or 11th birthday...
around the time when the PS1 came out!!! That's right, I was always behind the times by a generation or two but I'm the type to always appreciate the simpler things anyway lol.
Never really bothered about the newest or up-coming tech, I actually find more interest in older stuff! haha :P
I didn't even own a PC till mid secondry school and it was older than me and couldn't play many games. It's only VERY recent (last 3-4 years) that I've started PC gaming.
