Starting on TMOA is a new series of one hour shows. Each show will be based on a different genre of music.

The idea of the show is to give an introduction to genre's of music that you may never have or rarely listened to.

The series is called An introduction to......

Genres I have in mind so far are:

Jazz Funk
Classical
Crooners
Country
40's

I may even do introductions to certain artists if there is enough demand. Say an hour of Glenn Miller for example.

So anyone got any ideas of genre or artist that would be good to have a one hour show based around?

If I have or can get hold of enough music of the requested idea, then I will certainly be interested in doing a show on it.

I will also accept requests in advance for songs as long as it fits that weeks topic.

The show will be on Fridays 4pm-5pm ET/9-10pm UK. Which is just before the Friday Night Rock Show on TMOA.

The first show will be Friday 12th September 2008!

An Introduction to Film Soundtracks!

Sounds good, Roger. For the Film Soundtracks can I request John Barry's "Persuaders Theme" (would that still count since it was for tv?) and something by Angelo Badalamenti (maybe from the "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me" soundtrack)? Plus some Ennio Morricone, of course. :-)

I was thinking of doing TV themes as a seperate show. I do have a fair few of them. :)

There will be Ennio Morricone for sure. I have nothing from twin peaks, but if I get that track before then, then I shall play it. ;)

I really enjoy movie soundtracks! I'll try and be free on Friday night so I can listen in.

Might even put in a request for a favorite of mine...

Two often overlooked genres that would be enjoyable are Bluegrass and Irish Ballads -- say what you like about 'em, the Irish really know how to tell a story! (And I'm not just saying that because my wife and her whole family are Irish -- well, ok, maybe just a little bit.)

I don't have any Irish ballads, and only a little bluegrass. But I would love to do a chase music I mean Blue Grass show! :)
