Okay... who's pumped? I for one am really looking forward to this. I've been on their fake websites to promote the movie (which you can find through d-9.com), and I've seen all the trailers and it looks like it's really shaping up to be a great sci-fi/action movie.

What do you guys think?

Got over a month until it's out over here but it looks great, and I hope it's actually a good film too.

Yeah let's hope that overblown marketing stunt is not just there to hide the ugly truth that the movie is not half as clever as it thinks itself to be (not looking at Cloverfield here, no, never...)

Started to get a little excited last night as they started showing the new commercials in earnest and the subway stations just got the posters up this morning. Yea, Im excited. It looks like a cool mix of styles, documentary type shakey cam, interesting story and peter jackson producing (feels a little like Bad Taste to me..note the similarities in the Aliens). Win.

Some links in this post here (http://www.tmoaradio.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2171&highlight=district), including a link to Neil Blomkamp's original short on which the full movie is based.

I can't wait for this to be released. I've started seeing signs outside the restrooms saying "No non-humans allowed" with a picture of the alien on the poster. Trailers look awesome, hope this is as good as the trailers are.

Cinematic trailer release (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6tE6UgKNA0&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sfx.co.uk%2Fpage%2Fsfx%3Fent ry%3Ddistrict_9_full_trailer_and&feature=player_embedded); looks like it could be a corker for sure.

Saw it just a few hours ago, and I must admit, I had seen Alive in JoBurg before I even knew it was going to be a movie (a friend recommended it). Well, after re-watching Alive in JoBurg recently, I went into the movie not expecting much, AiJ was ok.

Immediately I got sucked into the story, the effects, everything. Just very beautiful storytelling, very consistent effects, and the ending was really really good. I couldn't think of a better ending myself.

One thing I didn't understand is that it is part documentary and part actual cinematic movie. I guess they couldn't show everything from a documentary POV.

In the end, this turned out waaay better than I thought, and is definitely a favorite! :)

Glad to hear that, Pooka; was half expecting it to not turn out as well as I'd hoped. It's definately on my "must watch" list.

Though this movie had a very harsh rating ((R)) the people at the theater were kind enough to let me and my cousin in to see this ((Im 17, he's 16)) and my goodness, boy did we praise them for letting us in.

This movie, I think represents the empitimy of humans and their reaction. Not only was the story engaging, but the action was enough to keep those explosion junkies squealing with joy. I give this brilliant movie 4.99 stars ((.01 is subtracting formaking me have to wait for that sequel!!!))

Peter Jackson, really did outdue himself on this one, especially after that horrid flop of a remake of King Kong in my opinion.

Forget Harry Potter and GI Joe! GO SEE DISTRICT 9!!

Intense movie, that's for sure. Tons of amazing moments and awesome scenes, but had a great story also. Like Pooka said, great effects, and the final act was really exhilirating.

9.5/10

Just got back from seeing it myself. Good film. I'd give it 4 out of 5.

Now I'm waiting for the inevitable sequel... :23:
