Good news.

I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium, 32-bit.

My intigrated graphics card (The Mobile Intel® GM965 Express chipset, featuring the Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100) in my Sony Vaio (model VGN-NR430E) does not have the most updated Driver -- meaning all my surfaces and skins within The Movies are a plain, simple Black.

Sorry my IGC, I'm not a fan of black.

The problem arises that the Sony released Driver is not up to date, and does not work as it should, where the Intel released Driver does not open or allow its self to be added to the system.

I have tried forcing it, buy downloading the .ZIP instead of the .EXE, and opening the Autorun file (with all other files intact) from the "Update Driver" option you run into after:

-- Right Click "Computer"
-- Properties
-- Device Manager
-- Display Adapters
-- Right Click "Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family"
-- Properties
-- Driver Tab
-- Update Driver. . .
-- "Browse my Computer"
-- "Let me Pick from a List. . ."
-- Have Disk. . .
-- Browse
-- OK

Anyone know any other way to get the most updated Driver?

Karl,

Driver installs can work a couple of different ways.

Can you clarify this a little further? The executible or zip is extracting to a folder. You then run an autorun file in that folder? This is one way they can work and I don't know why that wouldn't be the case in your situation.

Sometimes the executible or zip file just extracts the files to a folder and you take the steps you described in device manager to update the driver and point it to the driver file in the extracted driver folder.

You might check this link - it's from early in the year, but if you've gotten the latest driver from Intel, the procedure should be much the same.

Also in one of the early posts, the poster references a couple of other posts that might give you some further information.

I have a Sony laptop, though it has nvidia graphics - but I've never gotten my graphic driver updates from Sony - I just get the latest nvidia updates. Same should hold true for the intel chip.

Thank you for the link, and help. I will see what I can find from this when I get home.

By clarify, in which manner, or which process, did you need more information?
