Visiting IMDB I got hit with the news:
Examiner article (http://www.examiner.com/x-11377-NY-Pop-Culture-Examiner~y2009m8d7-Director-John-Hughes-dies-at-59)

This truly a sad day, I mourn the loss of one of the people that shaped my youth like few others did. He was the very epitome of Teen Comedy in the finest sense.
He made some alltime favourites like Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club or Weird Science and his passing is all the more sad in the light that there never again was another writer/director like him to be found in Hollywood.

My condolences to his friends and family.

Sorry to hear about his death. Only 59, apparently, which is hardly any age at all, really.

I highly recommend Ferris Buellers Day Off and The Breakfast Club if you've never seen them. They probably haven't dated all that well but they're still worth watching.

I'm not that big a fan of Ferris Buellers day off, but I do acknowledge that the movie has become a cult hit and is still a huge influence on the market.
But I won't ever forget how Molly Ringwald broke my heart in Pretty in Pink.

Damn did I (and a million others, no doubt) have a crush on her ... fond memories. http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm233/W_Daninsky/Heart-Smiley.gif

Yet another famous person dead. Who could forget Home Alone? And speaking of that movie, I remade a scene from it in TM a while ago:
