Rick Rolling the MTV Europe Music Awards

The upcoming EMA's are in Liverpool so a bunch of other forums decided cast some votes, but the idea was.... What if we could Rick Roll the whole MTV Music Awards? we must do it, lots of people have done this on the web, so it is bound to happen!

If you want to do this, go to their website

http://ema.mtv.co.uk/vote/#_

And at the bottom of the page, it gives you this option:
and type Rick Astley in the 'Best Act Ever'.

Feel free to spread the word and hopefully we'll all be able to Rick Roll MTV Music Awards by the power of the internet!

By the way the category they will be competing in will have the likes of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson and Nirvana.

BY THE POWER OF THE INTERNET WE CAN GET RICK ASTLEY THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS AWARD OF THE NIGHT.

Aaah, no. Let me out.

Actually, he was a product of the Stock, Aitken and Waterman production team. They are perhaps more famous for giving Kylie Minogue her big break in pop music.

...Hmm this could be my TMOA idol song.

I like this song, I think that 27 million people seeing it on youtube is a great success.

I voted for Rick, but not to roll the awards, but as a kind of poetic justice.

There was an award ceremony way back in the time when Rick was famous and popular. He was up for best act or some other top award and the show was transmitted live. As he was going up to collect the award the TV company pulled the plug due to time and Rick didn't receive his award.

He was eventually given his award on a radio show the next day.

He was genuinely the nicest guy in pop at the time and didn't deserve to be treated this way. I have always had a lot of sympathy for him since then.

The song "Never Gonna Give You Up" always brings a smile to my face. It reminds me of a girl who wanted to have an affair with me. I wanted it too, but it never happened. She said she would even be my "bit on the side", but I said I should stay with my wife (now ex). I regretted it for many years that I didn't leave my ex to be with this girl. She was such a sweetie.

Anyway, she loved Rick Astley, and I have fond memories of dancing with her at a party to his album.

So Rick FTW! :punk:

This odd moment in Roger's life, was brought to you by Moonglide! :tt2:

I have to admit that although I've given his songs on awful lot of stick (here and in the big wide world), whenever I've seen him interviewed on TV he comes across as a thoroughly decent person. That counts for a lot in my book.

A comment about U2 I just read elsewhere reminds me of the greatest heckle ever.

U2 were playing in Glasgow, and Bono started his usual pontificating shite.

Quoth he: "Every minute I speak to you, a child in Africa dies"

To which someone in the crowd replied:

"Well, shut the fuck up then"

And the band played on :)

Whoever said that deserves a chuffin' award.
