Well I guess I'll withdraw from having any participation in this.
Shame really, it was going to be fun.
But after reading this comment from Jazzx:
" Norrie is on the panel, and there's no way he'll let her lose to anybody - he is the President, and she is the Vice-President of music on TMU, they're running mates. So Game Over."
I'll bow out.
I would hate his vitriol and invective to cast doubts on anyone else's integrity.

Well, I for one wouldn't question your integrity as a judge, Norrie. You seem to be somebody who says what he actually thinks - to friends or foes.
And the VP quip is pretty ridiculous 'cause the "She", who I assume is being referred to, is probably the most perfectionist of creators in our midsts. And if she wins this it'll so obviously be because of her talent and the amount of work she's put in, not 'cause she happens to be a friend of one of the judges. I mean, the lady in question often rehearses songs with her choir for months before commiting them to tape!

Probably a good time to remind everyone that the panel are not judges, and have no decision in who wins or loses. The winner is decided by the votes of the listeners.
Norrie's or any of the the other panel members is not an issue. Having said that even if the panel were judging the contest I would still want Norrie on the panel as I trust his opinions and his integrity.
There are a lot of quality entrants to this contest. I think it is far from a certain conclusion who will win.
I would like it known publicly that I would like Norrie to still be on the panel.

Yeah, I mean a lot of these shows have panels of judges, and they have no voting power. If they do have a favorite and show it, it's ultimately up the public (which can be a popularity contest, ala all the little teen girls who vote for their guy, or whatever). I have no problem with Norrie being on the panel at all. This is all just for fun anyway.

How silly, we all know Norrie is Sisch's bitch. Not the other way around. :001_tt2:

The "Panel", not judges, are for us to have a fun way of presenting the songs on the air... and I asked Norrie to be on the panel, not for his questionable taste in music...but for his acid tounge. :) God knows what music he listens to as he sits there... pantless in that big leather chair, pouring over photographs of polynesian women in a book that has seen better days.....
I do appriciate your wanting to keep any controversy away from My silly contest. It is an honor to know you, Norrie.
Norrie

I had to get rid of the leather chair. The self administered lotion sessions made it a hazard due to slippage. And that was with no music :)
JazzX wins, I'm out. May he be happy within himself.
And if he was any kind of man, he'd apologise to Sisch... I won't hold my breath :(
as if anyone needs to be reminded JazzX is a douche
anyone who enters a karaoke contest to prove their the best is kinda sad in my opinion... i enter anything because it'll be fun..and with norrie ripping on everything it damn well will be..
If norrie doesnt become a judge... the terrorists have won!

I just watched your so called song.
Really, fun is fun, but there should be a limit.
You do nothing but ridicule the honest efforts of stars like JazzX by producing this kind of hilarious satire.
Did I say hilarious? I meant to say elitist :)
Good job it's not a popularity contest, or a biased judging one.
I for one can say Norrie as a judge is the BEST safeguard for Nonsense there is.
When Norrie & I were not on speaking terms, infact, we were the polar opposite of it, he still reviewed a film of mine in a honest and positive way. based on the film, not me.
He conducted himself with incredible integrity during the X-box comp, and be you friend or foe has remained constant in his honest opinions and how he conducts himself.
This might just be me, but as a TMO'er who is not very fond of comps, Norrie being a judge is a positive in my book. It almost insures no BS will occur.
I find those comments negative and frankly, silly.
You can dislike anyone you wish, but when you question their character, better bring the proof that is beyond reproach. It better be more than he said she said, but actual proof.
Otherwise, your being diverseve for no reason at all, and that means your not in it for the fun, your in it to be debbie downer.
And suggesting that Sisch would be party to anything like a scam is just downright mean, as anyone who knows here knows she honest and fair.
Here it is in simple english, wanna beat Sisch at anything, better bring your A game, because she aint a chump, she works GD hard on what she does. Even if you don't like her, you must respect the quality of what she does. She puts in 150% everytime.

So JazzX: I am no longer a panel member. Make you happy?
I shall, however enter three songs. Two from the list of compulsory songs first. I'm not good, but it will be fun. I look forward to the commentators' opinions (oh, noes. It's biased) and the public vote (oh noes. It's a popularity contest).
What I won't do however, is denigrate others before the thing has even begun, merely to satisfy my fragile ego. I shall leave that to people with very low self esteem and a martyr complex.
Best of luck to all who are looking forward to having a laugh.

Sorry...Jazzx is a slightly confused...because everybody knows I was going to win this contest not because I can sing...but because I have great hair and a winning smile.
Also, I bought Ken a new pair of tiny shorts. (Call it sucking up if you want...I call it kick y'alls asses) - Cheating? Hell Ya's!! Holla!

I have applied to be a judge if Norrie does indeed recuse himself.
Everyone knows how level headed, even keeled and diplomatic I am!
WHAT? Why are you laughing? Stop it!

It's pretty pathetic at what lengths people are will go to rig a karaoke contest.
Shame on you Norrie, from now on I'm calling you Gillooly.
WHY? WHY?

Heck, have Norrie and Jase. Idol's got 4 judges this year doesn't it? Probably make a much more interesting show with more people to yack about the entries.

You're not getting away with this.
Nowhere did I suggest that Sisch was "in cahoots" or dishonest in any way. And I would be interested to see what line I wrote might lead you to that conclusion.
Nor did I imply that I "didn't like her". She knows (hopefully) that I don't bullshit in my opinions. That's why I gave two of her films/series my highest award.
You've turned this into a character assassination of yours truly, based on the very lack of evidence you're accusing me of.
You've completely twisted this situation to make yourself look high and mighty. Some "friend" you turned out to be.

Jazz
If i had to make a guess, i'd say that Jase's comments were more in reference to your post on the Lionhead boards regarding Norrie and Sisch. I believe you said something along the lines of
"...... Sisch will win the competition. Norrie is on the panel, and there's no way he'll let her lose to anybody - he is the President, and she is the Vice-President of music on TMU, they're running mates. So Game Over."
where there is clearly a suggestion of 'cahoots'. Now, my suggestion would be to let the issue die in this thread and to contact people on an individual basis via pms if you want to discuss the matter further. I for one don't want to see this thread derailed because of a petty dispute. TMOA idol is a fun contest and all i personally want to read about in this thread is how good or bad people's entries are.
cheers

No, not at all Jazz. YOU made it clear that the fix was in when you stated Norrie is on the panel and there was no way he wouldnt let Sisch win. YOU started down that road by declaring Sisch and Norrie the President and Veep of music on TMO/TMU
WTF is that about? I have always stood up for you when called for, but that was a suggestion of impropriety on your part, not mine. I merely responded that unless you had some kind of proof Norrie was A. Historically prone to cheating or fixing results in favor of his friends, that is was nothing more than an attack on his character. Infact, Norrie has very much always fought against the fix being in and i was offended at the suggestion he would do such a thing.
Norrie and I may not be best of pals or BFF's, but I will stand by his consistant honesty in any comp or judging he's involved in.
I have been the victim of bad judging outside the given rules of a comp, I know how much it sucks to be shorted that way, and would in no way let it happen to anyone else.
You have gone out of your way to suggest that all the "bad apples" have left TMO for here. Several times.
I'd say to you, Some friend you are for even trying to poison the well of frienship and creativity this place stands for. We didnt ruin TMO, we didnt do any such thing. The Mods and LH ruined it, and the sole reason this place exists is because of that.
You seem fixated on the fact that people here are just rotten it seems, and I for one have no idea why. I have been consistent in being a good guy to you, sticking up for you at my own peril and yet you, without proof, you attack (yes attack Norrie and Sisichs character) and then act as if i have singled you out for no reason.
That boggles me.
never said you didnt like her, if my post lead you to think that, then that was my fault for not being clear, that was a general statement

Just let me refresh your memory and quote what you wrote on TMO:
Biased judges - everybody knows that, no matter how http://community.lionhead.com/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif the other singers are, Sisch will win the competition. Norrie is on the panel, and there's no way he'll let her lose to anybody - he is the President, and she is the Vice-President of music on TMU, they're running mates. So Game Over. And then tell me again you didn't slight me with this... I feel greatly offended by what you're implying here. Plus "vice-president" of music - what kind of BS is that?
I feel also greatly offended by the even bigger slight to Norrie, who would never do what you implied. And it didn't help that you said the next day you "had been a bit grumpy" when posting that crap. Sometimes, thinking things through before posting them helps.
*sigh*
I wanted to keep out of this - I have never, ever, in my whole life, cheated on anything, be it school, exams, men or - whatever.
I thought about staying out of the contest after I read what you wrote on TMO - but then I thought, to hell, I want to have fun, and believe it or not, I will have fun taking part, regardless of the outcome.
I'm not interested in a prolonged discussion of this - normally, I would have taken this to pm's, but seeing as it crops up again and again, I wanted to make my standpoint on this clear. You don't know me one little bit, Jazzx, if you think I would even consider myself president of anything. That has never been my intention. I'm not an attention whore, I'm not out for being the number 1 loved member of this community... I'm here to share my creativity, be it moviemaking, singing or music making with people I like.
So please let this thread be again of what it's about - a place where people promote the songs they have done for the TMOA Idol competition.

I have assured JazzX of my impotence by PM.
I doubt that it will lead to the apology to Sisch that she deserves. I'm not that naive.
I, for one, want nothing more to do with any of this.

I wanted to start this thread so that I can keep the Offical thread only for Official notices, entries, publicity for your songs, and questions about rules, and voting.
In no way do I want to stop discussion between members of the community... I just dont need it in the official thread.
With that in mind, I am moving some posts from the official thread to here.
Have some fun here...and send in some songs. :w00t:

Yes, this is a much better way of dealing with things than the systematic locking of threads carried out on TMO.
