So as you may or may not know my laptop died on me two days ago and I gotta tell ya, after more than a year of focusing on movies, music and other computer things, its a boring evenin without it.
Thats ok right, I can finish up some fun games on the old PS3. Hows about a little GTA4 or Madden09. Excellent way to pass the month. And then my PS3 died. Crappin you negative. Wont read any disks all of a sudden. Got no receipt for the machine that was bought last December (would be under warrantee if I could find a receipt otherwise its 150 bucks..um.
And then the couch repairman came (thanks to all the well wishers by the way) and tells me that even though yes I purchased the lifetime leather maintenance warranty the tear was too big for them to fix. So um...
Well, mrsbiz brought home a tiny little thinkpad so I have access to the internet which is nice and the ps2 will probably get pulled out soon but I expect both to explode in my hands at this point. In fact you probably shoouldnt even be reading this thread as my bad karma might rub off on you so scram...
what you still here? Leave me be. Its my pity party and Ill yawn if I want to.

That's possibly one of the worse runs of bad luck you could ever get in one sitting :(

You might want to keep an eye out on your TV for the next few days to make sure it doesn't sprout legs and arms and start some sort of technology war with you. Or, in case it just explodes, you may consider wearing a welding mask while watching your shows. ;) I'd be suspiciously eyeing your microwave, too.

...that reminds me of a strange dream a friend of mine had several years ago... he dreamt he was being attacked by a desk lamp, and kept screaming at it "why can't we just be friends?!?".
I thenceforth recommended psychiatric help... or less cheese before he went to bed...
Anyway, (kinda) on-topic, following your pronouncement of "bad karma" rubbing off, I have just a few minutes ago managed to blow up my kettle (filled it up, switched it on...BANG! Alas, poor jug... I knew him, Horatio... a kettle of infinite jest...)

You have my total sympathy. My PS3 packed up last New Years Eve. Fortunately, I managed to get it replaced later that same day before the shops shut early for New Year. Luckily I still had the receipt as I'd only had it about a month. Apparently, moving them around too much, especially when still warm tends not to do them much good.
If it's any consolation, bad luck seems to be doing the rounds at the moment. Last week, I was driving home from work one day when someone crashed into my car from behind at a traffic light junction. That wouldn't be so bad but it's the second time in three years I've had someone go into me at the same junction. Now I can't go through or approach traffic lights without feeling panicky. Closing my eyes and hoping for the best probably isn't a good idea.
Not only that, it's also aggravated a long-standing back condition I thought I was on the way to getting over. Nevermind, such is life. Bloody annoying, though.

Actually the whole PS3 dying (not really, I just corrupted the living crap out of it) and not finding the receipt happened to me. I bought the thing at Gamestop: they said they couldn't pull up anything but gave me some customer service number which had me jumping through hoops for a good hour. Long story short: I got that receipt. They didn't fix it though... sent me a brand new one. So, keep that chin up.

The laptop apparently had an issue with the BIOS that was a known problem with HP Pavilions. Therefore, they extended my warranty for 2 years and the repairs should be free. And it had been locking up a good bit lately so I backed everything up about two weeks ago. Lucky eh. Hopefully this is nothing more than a nuisance. Also was able to fetch the receipt from a BestBuy today so now to pass the problem off to sony.
The nights are long without my home entertainment (thats life with marriage and children hehe).
Thanks for caring all.

One week later and the laptop is repaired and back at home. Im rather impressed at HPs repair service turnaround time. I purchased Magix Movie Editor hours before the death and while the laptop is up and running, magix hasnt even left the store yet. So huzzah, one thing down. PS3 to go.
