While looking for some AFVN playlists to assist Roger in historical accuracy for his Introduction to Vietnam show Friday, I came upon Radio FirstTimer, a pirate radio broadcast done by an AFVN announcer for about 3 weeks in February 1971. He was broadcasting from a whorehouse in Saigon until they presumeably shut him down.
It's a fascinating show (this is the first one), about 3 and a half hours long, and I decided to go ahead and run it today before Industry 101.
What amuses me possibly the most is that the announcer, Dave Rabbit, sounds a lot like JosephKw.
There's some vulgarity in it, as Dave plays what he calls "hard acid rock music".
Anyway, it'll be running till Industry 101, so if you have any interest in late 60's - early 70's "hard acid rock music" or the period or whatever...feel free to tune in and rock out with Dave Rabbit and Radio FirstTermer.
It's running...right now.
