View Full Version : Delay in movies uploading

It might just be a temporary oddity for this afternoon, but I uploaded a video about 40 minutes ago and someone else posted a video about 25 minutes ago, and both still show, Video Conversion in Progress.

Hmmm; sounds a lot like the problem Sisch had upping Intermediate the first time, and Chris and Biggs have had issues with as well, IIRC... sounds like it could possibly be a corrupted upload, me dear...

That was my initial thought, and I was about to take it down and try again when I spotted the movie after mine in limbo too.

I'll give reuploading a whirl :)

Yeah, wierd that the last two that were uploaded have gone south, but it could be a problem with the site when uploading during a specific timeframe (Ken, they don't do DB maintenance or something at a certain time, which might contribute to films getting stuck in limbo, do they?)

Hmmm, not sure what's going on - going to upload a quick test myself - I added some patches last night, and it's possible something went whacko....

[Edit: Okay, so mine doesn't seem to be converting either - I'm guessing that my patch madness last night messed something up - they did have a patch for the "" problem when uploading, so I did that one and a couple of others I'd not messed with because they fixed problems we didn't have - but hey, in a fit of insanity last night, I used them as well.

You see! You see! This is why you don't give children loaded guns!!! I've put through a support ticket, so hopefully it will be fixed by morning, since they're 6 hours ahead of me]

dfpiii snuck one on tonight - wonder what secret he knows!

Unfortunately, it seems the problem still persists; Piotr uploaded something an hour ago and its still showing as "converting".. also noticed the site itself seems to be a bit slow in responding (both yesterday and today); thought it was me at first, but in light of what Ken said above, am beginning to think it isn't...

I think dfpiii managed to sneak around the problem as he didn't upload direct to the site, but simply linked through from Youtube, thus getting around it.

I usually embedd my videos when I can. I'm considerate enough to spare Ken's bandwidth.

Yes, I think it still persists too! I had that problem like Killian said this morning, so instead I did like Uber does, embedded my movie from Veoh.

Yeah, embedding will obviously work - they're working on it, and hopefully we'll have a resolution soon.

Errrm... is it only me or does anyone else now have an empty space where the movies should be on TMU?

Did you update your Flash player to Flash 10? I noticed this a couple of days ago (and probably should have said something, but thought it might have been something else I did).

Go here (http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=1), download the uninstall tool, go here (http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14266&sliceId=1), download Flash Player 9, uninstall Flash player, reboot, install Flash Player 9, and you should be back to normal.

Something else to pass along to Sharemixer when they fix the upload problem.

Oops! Thanks for the links, Ken, everything works fine now again! :)

Okay, everything is fixed - it was one of the hotfixes I applied Friday night - I've reapplied it, and tested with a wmv and an avi, so all is good, and the uploading may resume.

Of course, now the entire site won't load for me.

I am a curse to TMUnderground this weekend.

I am banishing myself!

Damned witch!! You have hexed it for me, too!

Have no idea what happened when you guys were getting the errors, but they may have been doing some updates - apparently the problem we were having was a global problem due to a broken patch, so they had to put out the word to everybody.

They're also passing on the Flash 10 thing to their main developer, since they didn't know Adobe was pushing it out.

So we're moving forward....

onward and upward. Thanks for the update ken.

Aye, cheers for that. Might have been an idea for them to warn you they were doing updates tho, but overall they have been blisteringly fast getting back to you whenever there's been a problem, so can't really take them to task for that.

Sneaky of Adobe to push 10 out (which is the reason I was failing today, which is odd seeing as it worked fine for me in the last week or so, when I'm sure I last updated Flash; dunno how long 10 has been out, though, to be fair). Rolled back to v9 and it worked a treat, though.

They've released a hotfix for the Adobe 10 problem, but I don't have my ftp info here at work, so I can't login and do the update - so that'll be fixed in about 8 hours when I get home.
