Just got off the phone with wifeofMonk -
His bypass operation turned into a triple bypass - the doctor told her the operation went "splendidly", and that he couldn't have had a better case.
Monk's still on heavy pain meds and sedation, so his wife hasn't spoken to him yet. If all goes according to plan, they hope to move him to a room tomorrow, and release him on Friday (he had already pointed out to her his laptop and headset to bring to the hospital so he could do Voice of the Community from there - she took the wind from his sails when she mentioned they might not have internet access in the room)
And as a special bonus for Security Guards in Space/Moby Dick fans, he'll be recuperating for 12 weeks at home (though he wants to go back to work in 8, the doctor said he wouldn't release him), so he'll have plenty of time to make movies. Yay! Say it with me now, yay!
More news as I get it.

I actually was scared and worried about our Monk, even had a tear in my eye from worrying about him and I ain't doing this for attention, but seriously, I know that these kind of operations are incredibly serious and that things can go wrong, But I am overjoyed to read this and I can't wait to hear from Monk again on TMOA and on Skype...
Glad to hear you are fine Monk, was worried about you!.. :p
Anyway I look foward to having our Monk back and some more of his movies...which hopefully will not spawn another Moby Dick... :001_unsure:

Phew, that helps bundles, I can stop writing a new co-host dream list, just a shame I have a meeting with Tom Hanks about it tomorrow, hmm, perhaps monk can have his jaw wired shut for a few weeks...
That's great news, I look forward to many more years of his intricately offensive and highly personal questions.

Good to see Mr. Monk back.
Now we pray that he dosen't make another Moby Dick, but however a S G I S-Enigma combination would be very interesting... :donatello:

Spoke to Monk for about 10 minutes today, he in his hospital bed, me...well, not in a hospital bed.
He said the selection of television channels sucked...I told him the next time a nurse came in to tell her it was the worst hotel he'd ever stayed in.
He's still on heavy pain meds (dilaudid, pick of drugstore cowboys across the globe), and he's feeling pretty good as long as he is doped up. Apparently the surgeon used the term "splendid" a few times with him too, and told him has "three fat new veins" in his heart now - guess it's time to break out of the bucket of fried chicken and get those veins broken in right!
He was also told that they might release him on Friday, if everything goes according to plan, but he's more realistic about it and thinks it will probably be Saturday or Sunday before they let him go home.
When I explained to him that if he missed Voice of the Community on Saturday he was fired, there was a gasp, an odd choking sound, and the line went dead....I don't know what to make of that.:tt1:
Anyway, more news as it becomes available. We now return you to your regually scheduled forums.

.
That'd be the sound of Monk choking on the Fried Chicken that he snuck him into the hospital :chef: He'll be fine....

I just received a phone call from Ken and he said he had someone on the line who wanted to talk to me. It was Monk! :)
He is sounding a little doped but very chipper and totally with it. He reckons the extra blood he got has made him more intelligent. So be afraid, be very afraid.
It was really awesome to hear him sounding so well and I mentioned you guys best wishes. I also asked him Norrie's question about "How many bed baths does a man need?" He asked me to pass this on "As many as I can get!" So as you can see Monk is recovery nicely.
He should be on the radio at the weekend, even if it is from his hospital bed, and he apologised that he might not be able to get everything ready for TMOA Idol this Sunday, but we said we would think up some excuse so he could put it off for a week. ;)
Anyway, it was really great to hear his voice! :)

Bed baths sound nice provided it's not from a Swede named Olga that has pointy breasts plates, horns protruding from her helmet and sings "t'hor - t'hor" as she works you over.
Bed pans on the other hand.

All, I can get away with....
"Sir, did you take a bath?"...
'Why?... Is one missing?"
I want to thank all my well wishers for your kind thoughts... Positive Waves, Baby!
and I have spent a pleasant few minutes this morning reading them... Better than Flowers in the hospital!
You are truely a great bunch of guys.... but the icing on the cake was the Memorial that King and Doc gave me on Pengvin Crossing last saturday...
Which Im sure Ken will have up for download shortly...
Give me a few more weeks and everything will be back to normal... and with all this new blood flow... new Ideas for stuff come flooding in every day!
