View Full Version : Which of your movies is your WOW movie?

Jane Doe comes up to you and says, "I'm willing to watch one of your movies. It needs to be the movie that best defines your style. The movie that tells me the most about who you are as a writer, director, producer. I want you to WOW me."
Which of your movies do you choose? Why? (Don't forget to include a link if it's online so we can sneak a peek too - Jane Doe can't have all the fun!)
i've never went for "WOW" when making a movie
impressing people doesnt do anything for me.
i prefered the "wtf" and "oh no you di-int!"

Huh, I always heard your movies were the reverse of WOW...you know, more like WOW (course I would know better if you happened to post them on TMU...Im just sayin).
And this whole Jane Doe scenario makes me feel dirty. What if mrsbiz finds out about Jane's proposal and kicks her ass for trying to get a peek her mans flicks? Full out catfight ensues and then I have to explain to Kid Millions about how momma was a rodeo. And who wants to go through that again.

Would it make you feel better if John Doe were asking instead?

Oh come on now Dulci, on other forums I would have to sit and read about how Baggage Boy vs the Easter Bunny is somebodys WOW movie, but here and now I can daydream about a chickadee catfight. Its not mean (nor standard deviation), Its win win for the here and now.
Hows about you show us yours and....

I'll answer Dulci's question just because nobody else has...
Probably at this stage, Last Rites, which you can currently find on my TMO studio page here (http://movies.lionhead.com/studio/kuroken) - I intend to get them on TMU, but that will require reshooting and re-editing portions of In Nomine Patris (to remove Jim Dunkle's disappearing mustache - blond, and not very noticable in online res, but very noticeable in higher res) and re-exporting Et Fille without sound, recording the soundtrack, and combining the two thanks to a Devil's Bookmark somewhere very close to the beginning)
It's probably not my best script (I think my script for Uber's Utopia 2 is pretty solid) but it was certainly my most ambitious project.
I have more ambitious projects ahead, but I doubt any will be done with The Movies.

For me, it has to be Foreigner (at least until I make another movie). There's been other good ones, though they're sloppy in places.

To date it would have to be One Last Breath (http://www.tmunderground.com/watch/5db0d477d707121934ff/One-Last-Breath-%28Full-version%29) I was very happy both with the way it turned out and the reception it got upon release

Sola Fide. (http://www.tmunderground.com/watch/125ed6c3f678819b6e05/Sola-Fide)
I still listen to Goof and Lizard and get mesmerized by the performences, I forget its my film..I just marvel at how they roll through such complicated dialog and just make it work.
Yeah, its the film I always wanted to make..

Dark Obsession, definitely.
It's the most ambitious and emotionally draining script I ever wrote, the film I put the most work and hearts blood in, and A_N_D, Riott, Goofparade, Kwis and DNR delivered to die for, perfect performances, each one bringing their characters to life completely.
I'm very, very proud of that movie. :)

When I want to wow people with the Movies I don't use my own movies. I show them Monk's history of the World part 2 (http://www.tmunderground.com/watch/601bbe69f35103915218/History-of-the-World-Part-2)
I sometimes show some of my crappy movies. But I don't show them my favourite movies: Hope, Don't Laugh At Me.

Definitely Costumed Blood (http://downloads.riley-man.com/TheMovies/CostumedBlood.wmv). Between the in-game mumbles, chicken suits, and toilet humour, it's sure to make you say... "WOW! That was really terrible!" :)
Oh, we're being serious now?
I haven't made my "wow" movie yet.

Well.....Lets see, my WOW movie would have been "Zombie Day"...Sorry I erased it, but it was a little zombie parody with some of my finest comedy material...
Too bad, many people once called it one of the funniest zombie movies in TMO...
That would have been my WOW movie...

Definately my latest outing : TEAM X ADVENTURES
http://www.tmunderground.com/watch/25934ee377cfda20e414/TEAM-X-ADVENTURES
Every one of my flicks have taken longer and longer to make. Maybe it just feels like my WOW movie, since it took so long, and its so fresh, like grannies homemade wine...where am I going with this?
I don't want to make a 'WOW' movie, becuase where would you go from there?

I don't have one mainly because if I was really motivated..I could make a better movie. I am truly not into editing movies. I like all my ideas but I hate that I have no patience for the editing part.
Although, I did put a lot of effort into Divine Warrior...I still think it could have been better.
On another note, I can name a few WOW movies that were made by other people that really impressed me.

I like to think that whatever my latest release is then that is my best (or 'WOW') movie as I hope I'm improving with each film...
In that case, I guess 'The Terrible Old Man' (http://www.tmunderground.com/watch/f506af761d2277d853a9/The-Terrible-Old-Man) is it (for now). In a month or two, it will be Underpants Away Episode 2... after that, my Conquest movie... etc etc

Didn't you do 15000 overlays for Divine Warrior? If that's you not trying, it's mindblowing to imagine what you would do if you WERE motivated!

None of my movies is a WOW movie. A Huh? or an Ugh! movie maybe but certainly not a WOW movie.
Plenty of other people have made WOW movies and that's what gives me my enjoyment, seeing a really excellent film made by somebody else.

yeah roughly 7,000 overlays made the final cut...but if I had more time (I only made it in a month) I could have done way better.

for me personally it would be "A Christmas Tale" I dont know if its my best movie, but i made the script, got the VOers, and filmed the flick with overlays in a month. (and it ended up being 30mins long) Let alone trying to figure out how the hell I was gonna use a strap-on dildo prop in a horror movie. (it was one of the rules of the contest)
It it came out purdy good i thought...

None of my movies have really wow'ed me - but I suppose The Lounge Singer is the one most people equate with my style.

I avoided this first time through but a few drinks, some thought (actually a fair amount of thought...ok, an assload of thought) and Ive decided that Ptolemy's Blues (http://www.tmunderground.com/watch/217686ba124d7356686c/Ptolemys-Blues)is my Wow flick. Daydreams of Waking Night is close (a great score by TR3 and some fun overlays) and Ride the Rent/O the Ocean are epic in my own terms but this is not just my fave..its the most fully realized concept Ive completed. Not many folks ever cared for it. Cest la vie. I do like this one. In terms of wondering where my soon to be and future flicks will rate....Just saying (one of those screw it..im saying it moments).

Divine Warrior is by far the best and most original conceptually designed TM film I have seen yet. I hope someday it makes its way to TMU.
As far as my wow? How about what am I most proud of? That would be Saimaya, due to MikeDBoing bringing my script to life.
all of mine are wow. "Wow" Wow, what the hell was i thinking?

If someone else picked one thats my "style" I would have to say "Pimp Saga ep 2: Still pimpin' " but its part of whole. So odd of me recomending it to jane doe are slim.
However My newest film "Home Sweet Home" has had nothing but positive feedback and is the first time i have not acted in my film. Also this film is the first I have made from start to finish to be uploaded on TMU and has my first dabble at outside editing.
anywho here is the link for any jane or john doe/john q. taxpayer

Well I think my wow movie would be Close Encounters with some aliens part 3. That's by far the movie I'm most proud of, but since that movie doesn't work, and was deleted from my computer I'll go with Tuesday the 31st http://www.tmunderground.com/watch/9a4022a2c4c5a5ca3ee1/Tuesday-the-31st.
I feel that Tuesday the 31st is good wow movie for me because it includes all the elements of a Homemadeeye movie; me doing girl voices, every single character dying, and a high level of retardation.

I agree MikeDBoing was brilliant!
My "Wow" film would have to be Sitting on top of the World. It has been my biggest project yet in every sense really, and also the first project that I had ever managed to finish that took more than 2 months. I'd have to lend any wowness it has to Sparky, Orky and Babar cause they really gave it power,

Putting a certain underpants-clad hero aside, I think my "Wow" movie would be 'The Terrible Old Man' (http://www.tmunderground.com/watch/f506af761d2277d853a9/The-Terrible-Old-Man) as pretty much everything came together well for this project.
Of course, I hope to "out-wow" myself with my coming projects... but who doesn't?

My big "WOW" film is one that I am in the making of. It's called "Cheyenne" it I think will be my first movie with mods if I can download it correctly!:sailor:

Tee hee! Me too! :)
However, if I am forced to choose, I'd probably go with The Tell-Tale Heart, (http://www.tmunderground.com/watch/a646eea513b0f81a5414/The-Tell-Tale-Heart) as it is the most tightly edited and well-structured out of the rest of my other (significantly different) super-WTF flicks that I concocted. One should always be on a quest for self-improvement, however. :55:

But I hope to top that with it's two sequels and finally get to release Aliens versus Predator!
