The TMOA Idol 3 Competition ....

Do You have what it Takes to be declared by the Listeners of TMOA to be The TMOA Idol????

Here is how the contest will work. Starting today, January 10th,
each singer will choose 1 Karaoke song from Monk's List of songs, 1 Karaoke song from the Community List of Songs and one Karaoke song of your own choice... For the Third Song, you can pick ANY song, including a song from one of the other two lists!

We will provide you with the karaoke version of these songs, ready to add your wonderful, vocals...
If you need some assistance in how to record your voice to the music, I will provide you with technical details... If you have problems finding that special song, Let me know, and we will see if we can find it.

To be entered, you must submit your First Song to me, by E-Mail: aka.themonk@charter.net by Midnight, Friday, January 21st.

You can present the three songs in any order you choose....and this will be important.

Every song will be voted on and given points by the Listeners of TMOA. Each vote will give a rating of a '3, 2, or 1', with 3 being the best, 1 the worst.
Once I have a list of all competitors I will provide a Ballot in this thread for that week's Songs
Votes for songs can be PM'ed or Emailed to me at aka.themonk@charter.net . Singers may vote for the other contestants songs, but not their own.

We will premier the songs on the Ken and Roger Show... Depending on how many contestants we get will depend on how many we can get on with one show... There the songs will be commented on by a panel of unsympathetic critics.
But the winner will be determined by the Votes of the Listeners.

You are encouraged to provide a link to your song for listening, or a link for downloading in this, the Official TMOA Idol 3 Thread...

All the Votes will be held in a Mayonnaise Jar.... yes, that Film of the Fortnight Mayo Jar.... Until all songs have been previewed and Played on Air.

Yes, that is acceptable...
I provide the Music for those those that cant find the music any other way.... but if you find a better version of the same song, you are free to use it... And you can alter the song, just a bit, but dont make it unrecognizable.:001_huh:

Also, Singing partners are welcome. Just let me know who the main singer is... because the main singer will have to be in ALL three songs...
Remember If you submit a song, You can still have the opportunity to Change the song right up to the Deadline for that week's song. But once the deadline has passed, you are stuck with it.

And.. before I forget... Im having to add 4 songs to the lists because for some reason I skipped them when putting the songs together... Just check the Edited Official Post. :devil2:

I have a question for you Monk...

Since this is technically a karaoke competition, I wondered if for our own choice song there was a possibility of entering an original creation? Would this be fair or does it make it awkward since there's nothing to judge the vocal performance against? I know Guppi wrote some of his own lyrics last year but wondered if the rules were different for a totally original composition :p

So far the computer's still going, and thanks for your comments! Since so few people bother to comment on videos anymore (c'mon guys, it only takes a minute or two and is always appreciated by a filmmaker -- I know I don't watch a lot of films here, though I am trying to change that, but I do take time to leave a comment on anything I do watch -- it's only polite), it is nice to hear that the videos are being enjoyed. Now that I can no longer make my own movies (something is wrong enough with my PC that my Movies game no longer works), I'm turning my hand to working on my editing skills and the music videos I've posted have been a great experience for that. I had some issues with the original song I was working on, and never got it done. I thought of doing a cover song, started working on one, and had some equipment problems (as in *both* of my electric bass guitars bit the dust), so I changed to a simple guitar song. I had video ideas for the other two projects, but no ideas for this so I just edited some space video (real shots from the hubble).

This is my somewhat indulgent version of an already indulgent song, Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah". And, no i haven't "found religion", I just like the song (and so does my wife). :)

So, this is my third and final entry into the TMOA Idol contest.
