View Full Version : Audio distortion in movies...

Thought I'd post this here, hoping that a resolution is in sight. As Ken knows, I uploaded a couple of movies (UPM in particular) that ended up having some bad audio distortion after conversion. (I've since removed them.)

Any word on a fix for this? I want to upload more movies, but don't want their audio screwed up (especially during General Dingleberry's scene!)

Hey Biggs

Can you post a link to one of the movies so that i can listen to the distortion of which you mention? There are different types of distortion that occur for different reasons

cheers

I'm pretty sure there has been an upgrade since last you uploaded Biggs.

I uploaded a bucket load of different formats last week, as a test, and they were all tikkety-boo :)

I'll try uploading again when I get home, thanks! (Sorry Sparky, I removed them from the site a while back.)

It may be fixed, or it may not - might have to wait for the 1.5 script in a couple more weeks to see if it's one of the two encoders that's doing it.

I have heard it (as Bigg's has said, it's like sitting next to a movie projector) and it's intermittent and, I believe, based on a specific audio frequency (which is unfortunately one that UPM and Phil himself sometimes uses) that the encoder just doesn't like.

I didn't find it especially annoying or distracting, but I'm pretty much like Tommy anyway ;)

Damn my deeply, manly voice... :D

OK, I uploaded a small extract of the UPM movie, and the distortion effect is still present.

I'll just wait until a fix is in place before I upload anything else... :(

As I mentioned in my PM to you on TMU, it's definitely only present when you speak - something about the frequency of your voice....the 1.5 version of the script will allow me to chose a different encoder, I believe, and we'll see if that phony manly voice of yours keeps the encoder's heart from going a-flutter.

If not, you'll just have to use your real girly voice....
