As I said to AND, plus a few others: You know it's official when Fox News concedes.

It's hard for me to act the least bit surprised. Very happy with the outcome, though.

I know I'm british but I've been hooked on this...whoever wins gets to become the most powerful man on earth and I'm so pleased it's Obama...

Hopefully now change will come and the crisis in the world will be sorted out...

In britain we wish we had someone like Obama, so you all should be happy over there in the US, he truly is a great man!

Go Obama Go! :)

Even though it was predictable as hell, congrats Mr. Obama on your victory!

Theres nothing predictable about getting the first black man elected in a country that was stupid enough to vote for jr. twice. Great campaign, lots of hope. Now for the change.

As someone put it today:

"Last night after 147 years, the Cival War finally ended!"

This indeed was history. I'm glad I stayed up until 4.30am to watch it.

America, the World welcomes you back! :)

Well done for voting the right man in!

I'm very, very glad Obama made it - stayed up quite a while last night, though not until the end!

It's great that so many people voted - particularly the young ones, who seemed to be (as traditionally in Germany, too) so lazy when it came to that always before - not this time! :)

Change!!!

I could ramble on for an hour about this, but in short... (And I don't tend to talk about the US election; as a Canadian, I'm not sure it's my business)

The most relieving thing about this election is that people will finally be able to have some confidence in the Presidency... Even if one doesn't agree with the decisions he makes; it's perhaps more important that when he implements a decision, it isn't blundered in every manner imaginable.

Some of what I felt were very important bits of his acceptance speech, that I hope everyone will heed:
- The road ahead will be long... We may not get there in one year or even one term.
- So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility, where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other.
- Let's resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long.

Sure it was. Didn't you watch the polls they did over the past few months? Obama had the lead more or less every time. And while that isn't hardcore proof that indeed he would've won, it's substantial enough evidence to make an educated prediction.

In short, I'm not at all surprised, but very glad all the same.

I stayed up till 5.30 am (cause I'm more hardcore than the other Roger - heehee) and I was very pleased with the result. I actually thought McCain's speech was pretty good despite the booing of his inbred supporters whenever he mentioned Barack or Biden. Obama's speech was amazing. And it was quite moving earlier to see Jessie Jackson lost for words and crying as they finally reached 270.

Yeah, I totally agree with ya'. People can say what they want about the guy, but he did handle himself pretty well. Fake or not, it was pretty honorable of him to say the things he said.

I suspect that we can all agree that McCain is an honourable man. It seemed to me, as an interested outsider, that his honour was somewhat compromised by the GOP. Does anyone honestly think Palin was his choice as a running mate?

Change is a very easy word to use, harder to do.
I hope that one of the first things that happens next year is the cessation of the disgrace that is Guantánamo – that will surely send the message that it's not all rhetoric.

I totally agree (even on the hardcore bit, I'm still tired :p)

One thing that really touched me Obama's speech was that he actually bothered to address the rest of the World. It is not something that I remember hearing at such a speech from a President elect before. Maybe this is a good sign of things to come.

I now feel that we can once again feel comfortable with America again. To be honest I have been more scared by George Bush than I have been by all the world's terrorists. When alls said and done that can't be a good thing. Another 70 or so days and I will feel far more relaxed.

Yay! I´m so glad Obama made it!
But the expectations are ridiculesly high... I think we should all be happy and glad Obama won but don´t expect miracles. Thou I do think he´ll do good, you just can´t expect him to change everything to the better like some do. =)

I knew all along that I was going to cry on election day, one way or another...

They turned out to be tears of joy, and for that, I am unspeakably grateful.

Let's not even talk about the enormous sigh... of relief.

Indeed.

Jen and I cried at this historic moment in world history. We knew nothing compared to the enormity of the moment, short of landing on the moon in '69.

I am very proud to be an American and sad for comedians around the world who will have such a hard time coming up with comedic slams on someone as righteous as President Obama.

Palin 2012 baby!!!

I didn't stay up to watch the results but the next day I planned to buy some ammunition. I kinda knew who won when I drove by Shoot Straight and the place was overflowing with people, lol.
