Hi Katie -
I am very sorry if my remarks about Hispanics and loud Mariachi Music offended you on today's show. I never meant to offend anyone and was speaking specifically about my neighborhood. I am sorry that my remarks sounded like a blanket statement about all Hispanics - I obviously said it wrong, as that is not what I believe, and I cannot apologize enough for that.
My online persona of a brash, foul-mouthed old lady is what I choose to project to the community. My persona protects me from actually being emotionally vulnerable with the listeners - which is what I choose. In actuality, I am very different from that.
Please accept my apology. I have done my utmost to find you online and do this in-person but have failed in that mission. So I am appealing to you publicly.

inever heard the show or the comment in question and probably have no business in this thread.....
but it does pose a few thoughts:
How does one pull off a personna is being brash and non offensive to someone/anyone?
should one tone down their personality because someone/anyone might be offended?
are people offended too easily?
again these are general questions and dont have to be directly linked to the thread in question... just thoughts

I don't think you need to apologize unless you said it like the following:
This is just an example and not something I mean in real life.
"Those G*ddamn beaners and their loud ass Mariachi music!"
but if you were simple just stating a truth by saying:
"The hispanics next door are playing their Mariachi music rather loud today"
I don't see how that is offensive.

No - what I said was ignorant and insensitive in that I made it sound like ALL Hispanics play loud Mariachi music - which is a ridiculous statement. I feel absolutely horrible about it and I am very sorry to have said it.
All I can do at this point is sincerely apologize to the listeners and move on. This will never happen again. I'm sure I'll find NEW WAYS to screw-up in the future!

Cathy,
Sometimes when are playing a role or a character, as we both know, we say and do things that are out of normal character. Acting!
I'm sure Rodney Dangerfield caused a few spit takes in his day but he wasn't a bigot and neither are you.
I can tell you're sincere about it and so can Mocap Katie, I'm sure.
Mocap?..how bout some lovin?

If it was exaggerated, there's no need to apologise. Can't we all have a little fun or poke at each other without being called a 'racialist' or a disgrace to society. Sounds like political correctness gone mad.
And on that note, is someone going to tell me this is racist too?

There's nothing wrong with creating a persona that might not be quite "politically correct". Case in point -- The Balob. If people thought I really meant half the things he said, I wouldn't have any friends here at TMU at all.
Uhhhh....I do have friends here, right?
Anyone?
Uh-oh.....
