What is your favorite type(s) of music?

I voted for 'other' because i have such a varied taste in music, what is my 'favourite' one day will be different the next. I like Indie, Rock, Metal, Acoustic, Folk and sometimes i even enjoy the sound of slience (is that even a possible thing?). For example, today i have been listening to The Levellers, but yesterday i was listening to Carcass - go figure!

Definitely jazz. Though neo-jazz (That's the offspring of techno and jazz basically), regae, and alternative are also amongst the list of favorites.

Personally, I'm a punk, metal and alternative fan mostly, and listen to most stuff that branches off from there... although I do like a bit of indie and some acoustic stuff every now and then.

I like listening to rock, all types that go along with it. No matter what mood I'm in I can listen to rock. I like listening to some jazz every now and then, its quite good. Music, I listen to it everyday.

Punk rock came in second, as I've recently gone over all the old Tony Hawk Pro Skater soundtracks and found some great punk tunes from THPS 1-3. 2 was the best for both punk and music in general I think.

My dad is a big rock fan.

Ever since I was a infant I listened to Dire Straits, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Rolling Stones, and more.

I do like Classical music... (Rhapsody in Blue...Classical/Jazz) is my favorite piece.

My musical tastes vary so much, so I ticked Jazz (yeah, who would've guessed?) and Other...

I listen to classical music quite a lot, but I'm also a House/Techno girl (the early stuff), plus 80's music -of course! Blues, some alternative stuff...
I'm not such a big fan of R&B, Soul or rock, or heavy metal... though sometimes, I like that too. I listen to a tune, and I either like it or not - easy as that! :)

I'm not sure if a poll can really work for favourite types of music, it's a huge subject with myriad variations.

I like my Indie (as in the sound, not used as a term short for 'independent') I suppose. (so I just chose other). Well, more specifically bands with a strong Yorkshire or generally British accent. Gotten into them more recently, gotta keep the Yorkshire ties going strong. :P
So, that's bands like, Arctic Monkeys, The Fratellis, the Kooks, Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs, The Cribs and The Wombats.

I also like a healthy dose of Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears and Spandau Ballet. :cool
But I can end up liking all sorts of things. There's just an important difference between music I'll have on in the background whilst doing other things and music I'll listen to and really listen to as an activity in itself.
Having done music at uni, it's sort of an automatic reflex to analyse music, since we were taught in such a way as to make it a passive ability. So I'll often just sit and listen to various bits of music and do nothing else but relax and enjoy.

I would have to say that Classic Rock is my favourite genre, but I like all kinds of music. If a tune is good, it's good. It doesn't matter what genre or category it falls into.

I can quite easily get as much enjoyment from listening to The Carpenters as I can from a band like Carcass, for example.

I can't stand manufactured, X-Factor, Pop Idol type groups or singers.

Quite alot of them are good, but my all-time favourite genre is...TRANCE! (think doof doof but has more of a...how to put it.....'spiritual' sound to it)
