Since Maverick has accused me of plagiarism, and because several of the threads concerning it have since been locked, I hope you’ll allow me this opportunity to clear my good name.
I don’t attend this board as often as some of you, so after Dulci informed me of what was happening, by the time I logged in to read in amazement at what had been posted, the threads had been locked, which gave me no chance to reply. I must say, I was overcome to read the many messages of support that I saw there; many from people who I have never even spoken to – it meant a lot to me and I thank you all.
I’ve since received an apology from Maverick, and here’s an extract of my pm in reply –
… In Magix, those two instrument loops, 'Celesta' and 'Night', only exist in a few loop variations, so the chance of two people utilising the same ones is very high. The coincidence though, is that we both chose to use an identical chord progression as well - hence the similarity. I could just as easily accuse him of copying my version, but of course, I know the reason why it happened.
I love messing about with my Magix, but there are many thousands of other Magix users out there who are also messing about with the exact same loops, making the chances of duplication quite high. As I said, this is one of the pitfalls of using pre-made loops instead of ones you've created yourself. This is what I'm working on now; my bro has a Line6 set-up, which is capable of exporting all kinds of sounds - watch this space……
I will reiterate - I've never heard of Fadious, have not visited Newgrounds in over a year, and totally repudiate any plagiarism charge. And if Maverick had pm'd me instead of 'going public' in a thread, I would have explained to him how this can easily happen, then all of this unnecessary hoohah could have been avoided.
The risk of a duplication will always be there, but I hope this won’t discourage anyone from using my music.
As I’ve already said, Maverick and I are cool now, so enough with the witch-hunt already.
Thanks for giving me this chance to reply, now can we get back to enjoying ourselves here please?
