How many moderators does one site need? Just curious.

Depends really. We have people on here at all times of the day, so we spread that out. We have Europe and the US coverd and nobody from Down Under behaves badly, so they prolly get to run around unsupervised..heh
Should be a % of your user base. This way, unlike LH, we have a wide berth of coverage and thinking minds who can work with each other and also provide a diverse pool of thinking.

Yes, we do have a fair number of moderators here, though only a handful are really active as moderators.
There's some truth to my attempt to have people around from different timezones - not to "police" because obviously there's not a ton of that going on, but to spot issues and answer questions.
The other reason is that the mods here are a second, third, fourth, whatever opinion on things that affect the site. In our little mod hideaway, there's a lot of discussion about things, some of it...uh....passionate. Through that discussion, through the variety of opinions (some one way, some another, and some in the middle) we can usually find a way to do what's right for everyone here. Or as right as we can make it.
I don't think the modding here is oppressive or even really noticeable - occasionally a foot comes down on a smoldering cigarette butt to put it out before it starts a fire, but otherwise, we try to stay out of everyone's way.

Personally I reckon you can never have too many moderators.
These forums are alot more moderated than the Lionhead ones. Lionhead hasn't really learned that and their forums are well under-moderated.

So can I be a moderator? (I just want to see the secret forum; I would actually have no plans what so ever to moderate..I believe in freedom of speech..kinda like running around without your underwear on. Plus, I am really nosy...think about it ken...I would be a wonderful asset to the community- Go Team!)

Sure, you'd just be adding swear words into everyone's posts, we all know that :p
