I would like to know what is the most popular movie genre, I am tied between Horror and Action, but I have made this poll to see who likes what.

I chose artistic merely because you didn't have a "drama" category.

Comedy and action are my personal favourites... more comedy than action, but I will watch most stuff pretty happily.
Don't ever sit me in front of a "teen" movie though... it'll make me angry, and you wouldn't like me when I'm angry...

I hate polls. I'd rather have an informed opinion.
Oh, and I love movies that cross "genres". If superhero is a genre, doesn't that negate the varied bents that can be put upon it?
Polls are one click panaceas for one click minds :D
Comedy- The funny kind..not the Will Ferrel/Adam sandler Kind

Noir is a thing all its own, while artistic would be like..well something else entirely. Oh how I think Genres are such little boxes we put things in..:cool

I would vote Porno, but sadly it's not there, it's amazing how you can tell a story with merely sighs and grunts.
I used to like comedies, but no one seems to know how to write one anymore. I also like drama/action, Tarantino, Scorsese etc.

I'm very specific about the genre I like. I'll have nothing in the house but Slovakian Remakes Of 1980s Chick Flick Dance Movies. Believe me - you've not had the full "Footloose" experience till you've seen it performed by hefty Eastern-Europeans with ruddy-cheeks and clogs.

I voted for Superhero Westerns... unfortunatly they only made one... West World, and the superhero was only a robot!
Superhero is a genre now?
Anything combined with science fiction tends to float my boat. But if it doesn't have a healthy dose of comedy in then I tend to lose interest as I have an inherent dislike for anything that takes itself too seriously.
Scarily, the one actual movie I made with The Movies engine that is worth talking about (Sparks Fly) had absolutely no elements of comedy other than how badly it was made.
I usually completely switch off when forced to watch a western.
In my mind, most documentaries aren't really movies, but depending on the subject (obviously) I really enjoy them. For that reason I don't think anyone can categorically say 'I like documentaries' unless you enjoy watching just about any random thing like the mating habits or bees or why the sky is blue.

I didn't see a party pooper genre either :p but it's getting it's share of votes :)

Science fiction, definitely. Because good science fiction... well, good fiction deals with humanity, and needs to be grounded and rooted in humanity for it to work. An in-depth universe and evil empire will only get you so far if it doesn't have its two feet planted solidly in the camps of empathy and humanity. It's so much harder to create believeable characters and settings in an unbelieveable setting, which is what makes good movies good, but it's even harder with fantastical settings in science fiction. That is why I prefer it, it's so much harder to pull off good sci-fi, and I respect the effort that goes into it.

Did you also find Darth Vader to be the hero of Star Wars? The tourist were pretty irritating but still...

I picked all of them but "romance" and "superhero".
In making movies, I don't really have a favorite genre. Though, i'm not fond of making romance movies.
The same applies to watching movies. I really don't have a favorite genre. :walkman:

My dreams are coming true! Haha - I didn't know Slovakian clog dancers really existed. Thanks for that link, Roger. I know a Slovakian lass so I'll need to ask her about this phenomenon.

My favourite is historical drama so encompasses quite a range of main genres, films like michael collins, Braveheart, Gladiator, saving private ryan,
Films that give me a shred on insight of that time period I find fascinating
Its my favourite genre of tv drama so i suppose its only natural I'd like the big screen equivelant

I don't particularly have a favourite genre. If a film's good, it's good. Genre is irrelevant.
Also, I don't think Superhero is a genre but a)I'm being pedantic and b)what do I know.
