On a same but different note.. Betty Page died this week as well. Inspiration comes from where it comes from.

Like her or hate her, she changed a lot of the ways that sex has been protrayed over the years, I reckon (whether for good or bad is the subject matter for another thread, should anyone wish to do so (and discuss it in a civilised manner, of course :)))

Back on topic, there are a few Trek fans who never took to her (considering her to have latched onto a "good thing" when she saw it and milked it to death when she had the chance), as well as those who adored her.

Either way, she was a force in the Trek "family" that will never be replaced, and will be regarded with a lot of fondness by the majority of fans.

I think IIRC K4 (at least) has had the privilege to meet her, so maybe he can give a better eulogy than me here.

Yeah.... I did have a very nice meeting with Majel. She was at a convention and like alot of Trek-goobers I stood in line for an autograph. But she saw me and motioned for me to come up to the front of the line and then she whooshed me behind the table with her. "Oh, be still my beating heart!" I said to her to which she giggled, held my hand and then patted me promptly on the butt.

I sat with her a while and had a 'charming' conversation. There's no doubt in my mind that if the timing were different, she and I would have had a nice dinner together. She was very delightful and I will never forget my special moment with Majel.

Oh... I made up the part about the butt pat. Hee hee... but the rest is true.
