Machinima Expo 2012 has selected two of my films for screening ("Scion" and "Star Recruit"), plus an honorable mention screening for "the END IS NIGHt".

My bit in Bezzer's "Bride of Grindhouse" is completed, so now it's back to the "Star Recruit" saga. I was thinking about how to animate some of the more complex scenes; namely lightsaber battles, for one. The only one of my programs with unlimited animation possibilities is iClone (unless I bug a bunch of modders), so I decided to use that program for the lightsaber battles. I did a few test shots and they look very promising. Please have a look at my "Star Recruit" album for a few screen shots.

I worked a bit on "Star Recruit 2" lately. Mostly I added more layers (objects and background people and ships) to my existing Tatooine shots. I also completed 50% of the Stormtrooper scenes.

Now I am taking a break to film my contribution to Bezzer's new Grindhouse trailer collection. It should take me less than a month to film this (the script is completed already).

Technically the film is complete now. I just have to render it out at a size which the video hosting sites will allow me to upload (Vimeo restricts the size to 500 mb max, but my film rendered out at over 600 mb in .wmv). I'm tinkering with the export options in my new Sony Vegas video editing software. Hopefully I'll get this out by tomorrow (or even late tonight if I'm lucky).

I estimate the film will be done in two more days--maybe three if I decide to shoot some pickup scenes.

"THE END IS NIGHt" is now complete. I am now working on the end credits of the film (which is rather involved since it involves flashback sequences and fancy title graphics). The film will be around 16 minutes long (including the end credits).

My latest project, as you might have guessed from the screenie album, is "THE END IS NIGHt". It's my first MovieStorm film, and also my first action-oriented movie. The story is told with very little exposition and dialogue, and mostly through visuals. It's fast-paced, and is estimated to be 14 minutes long. The movie is 90% complete, and should be ready for release in a couple of weeks or so. I'll have more screenshots up in the album soon.

More news on the "Star Recruit" front. The Admiral Akbar costume is almost ready (for use in the Movies), and the character will be brought to life by Goofparade's always-amazing voice talent.

I'm still testing out the different softwares to see which mediums work best with my "Star Recruit" project. Obi-Wan Kenobi will be a the Movies character (thanks to Uber). Darth Vader will be brought to life via iClone (my thanks go out to Warlord), and I've decided to animate Yoda via Crazy Talk Animator Pro (surprising, perhaps, but my test shots are just stunningly realistic and versatile).
